Hey Olivia11, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
The updated Dropbox for macOS experience was developed to adhere to the requirement as set out by Apple and to ensure the best possible experience for our Mac users long into the future.
Nothing will happen if you don't update, however, there will come a time when the Dropbox application won't work as expected.
Do you perhaps need assistance with anything in particular?
Let me know.

If the download affects my MacIOS, who will I call, Dropbox or Apple?
Will files be lost?
Another question is whether Dropbox is going into bankruptcy.?

If you have an issue with Dropbox then Dropbox is the one who needs to help you.
Files shouldnt be lost as long as you follow and read the instructions on it carefully.
And no, Dropbox isnt going bankrupt - Dropbox is profitable.
