Hello Everyone,
Just in case someone finds this thread later on and reads it. I worked with the technical support team and was able to get Dropbox installed.
What they had me do was create a brand new Administrator user, reboot and installing Dropbox from there. To see if that would work, it did.
I rebooted my PC again, signed in with my regular id and finished the configuration of Dropbox - signing in getting sync going.
I will now have to try and figure out what happened with my normal Administrator profile I log in with every day. That is outside the scope of Dropbox support, and I totally understand that. At least Dropbox helped me get their application installed and working by providing good recommendations.
Thank you Dropbox Support for helping me get it working, it took time but that's ok at least I got it working.

Hey there MarianR, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Monday!
I'm not sure if this will work, but can you temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall you may have running and try to install our desktop app from this page?
If that won't improve matters, you can also have a look at this discussion.
Keep me posted anyhow, Marian!

Hi Walter,
I have recently been trying my installs in SAFE MODE, and I have tried both the regular and the offline installs, so no anti virus or firewalls are active. I have read through a lot of the threads in the community for this error, before even opening this. So far nothing has worked. I tried the one you pointed to and I am still getting the exact same error. I tried looking for the log files, The only place I found a Dropbox folder was in:
%LOCALAPPDATA%
No Program File directories were created for Dropbox when I ran the install, so there is nothing there to look at. Plus, I can not try the part about setting the path.
Within the Dropbox folder only logs and instance_db had anything in it.
In the logs folder is a file called 1-d6ac-60abaa77 (no extension) I tried dragging it in here but received a message the file type is not supported.
I can send the log file to you if you think it would help, I just need to know what extension to put on it, so that it won't get corrupted.
I have tried so many different things and nothing has worked. I really would like to get Dropbox working again. Is it possible to try a version of the install (offline) that is a little older, that wouldn't insist on an upgrade?
Unless you have other suggestions that are new, and have not been posted yet to the community, I have all ready tried a lot of them.

Just so I recognize it and don't delete it.
