Need help migrating to a new Mac using the Apple Migration Assistant

Apple Migration Assistant is by far the smartest and fasted way to set up a new Mac . It requires deleting Dropbox and all the stored files and folders from the 'old' Mac' to prevent Dropbox-issues. This is explained in https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Apps-and-Installations/Migrating-to-a-New-Mac-Using-the-Apple-Migration-Assistant/m-p/737660

Synchronizing Dropbox-files from scratch can take days. On my new Mac, and I am willing to take that investment but unfortunately also on my old Mac, as I want to keep on using it. I love Dropbox, but is there a way to prevent this silly waste of time, energy  and intelligence?
(deleting 1TB of Dropbox-files in a few minutes and then let synchronizing take days to get exacly the same 1TB of files on the same laptop again...)

Can I for example create a 2nd user om my old Mac, open dropbox-desktop app on it and transfer all files/folders to this 2nd user. Then delete dropbox on the original user.
Then migrate the original user tot the new Mac .
When this is done on the old Mac create dropbox-desktop on the original user, switch to the second user and transfer all files/folders to original user.

Will this work? If so what is the exact procedure so I will prevent pitfalls.
If not, are there any smart solutions?

Thank you

Hi @paulafm, thanks for posting today.

In general, the only method we recommend is by allowing the Dropbox desktop application to sync the files normally from the site down to your machine.

Using the Apple Migration Assistant, or having files in another profile and moving them into your live Dropbox folder, could result in data corruption, incorrect permissions, and other unexpected events.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
