Cannot establish a secure connection after dropbox update to 111.4.472
After the dropbox app (Window 10) updates itself to the latest 111.4.472 version, I'm getting this 'Cannot establish a secure connection'.
I've checked my time on my laptop, router. It's fine. I've...

I've just received some news that I'd like to share with you all here!
It appears that ESET has fixed the problem that was causing this error.
For anyone running ESET on their device, please update to the most recent version of ESET to update to the software.
Once you've done this, you should be fine to revert back to the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop app. You can install this from here.
Otherwise, you can just allow the app to auto-update to the latest stable when a new version is released.
Let me know how it goes!

This is an emergency!
I am getting the error message "Cant establish secure internet connection"
All of my client files are in dropbox, so I can not work now.
this happened right after the Windows 10 update.

Dear friends,
I am the originator of this post, and after spending 9 HOURS today, I have the solution!
What did NOT work.... I changed my computer date, uninstalled and reinstalled dropbox, turned off proxy, turned off ESET and firewalls, and a zillion other things including reading every article dropbox has posted on this error message, and nothing worked!!! I have windows 10 on both computers.
I then installed a beta patch from dropbox, which worked!!!! here is the link to install it.
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-112-3-254/td-p/476277
after installation, you need to reboot your computer, and then open dropbox. then all files will sync and the error message goes away.
Merry Xmas to you all! This is my gift to you.
Mod edit: If you're using ESET you can find the steps here.

Many thanks for the early xmas gift :-) Had the same issue yesterday, uninstalled/reinstalled/rebooted to no avail, contacted the guys at ESET thinking that it might be a firewall setting on their software, they said this was a known Dropbox problem and a) that they issued their own patch this morning and b) resommended, if the patch doesn't resolve the issue, to install the beta version of the DB app. b) worked! :-)

I contacted Dropbox via messenger and received the answer within a few minutes. This is for all who use ESET and have the same problem "Cannot establish secure internet connection":
1. Open the main program window of your Windows ESET product
2. Press F5 to access Advanced setup
3. Click Web and Email
4. expand Protocol Filtering and then click the slider bar next to Enable application protocol content filtering to enable or disable this feature
5. Look for "Excluded applications" and click on Edit Add Dropbox and Dropbox Update
6. Click OK
Keep in mind that you may need to reboot your device, or quit / relaunch the app, for this to take effect.

Gonna test it now.. and it seems it kinda work :white_check_mark: Gonna check to see. For does who are here before install don't change anything in firewall settings, router, system date&time of PC, I've checked.
Hope it all stays good :speak_no_evil: - bysaRD4 years agoNew member | Level 2
Thank you very much. I was banging my head against the wall and dropbox support claimed it was my system time which was off by 1 second max. My god... Thumbs up!
