Using personal account to share to profession acount

Im new to drop box. I have the free basic account which has 2GB of space. My employer is asking me to send files larger than 2GB. It is not letting me because the storage is full. I do not want to upgrade because it cost money. I was under the impression that I could send or drop files into their account for free. They would need to have the paid storage for the file being received.

I have the files, Im not trying to spend my own money monthly on dropbox storage that I have on a hard drive. Am I missing something. I just want to give the files to him.

Can someone clear this up for me? thanks.

  • Hi EliasF, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

On Basic plans, Dropbox Transfer has a maximum limit of 100 MB per transfer, so if the files you need to send are larger, then it wouldn't possible via that method.

It sounds like you might need to ask them to create a file request, which will allow you to upload files to their account, even without a Dropbox account.
