Sync folder "Music" from Dropbox Local to Dropbox Online in order to see content there.

Hello,

I've been storing all my music in the default Dropbox local folder named "Music" for a while now.

Regrettably, this folder hasn't been synced with my Dropbox online folder yet.

Now, I wish to completely sync this "Music" folder to Dropbox online.

The "Music" folder already exists online in my Dropbox, but it currently contains either no songs or just a few.

I'm concerned that initiating the sync to Dropbox might result in the removal of all local (sub) folders and music files since they don't exist in Dropbox Online.

Could anyone guide me on the correct steps to sync the local Dropbox folder ("Music") to Dropbox Online?

Note: My local Dropbox folder (Music) has numerous subfolders (genres and subgenres), and the entire folder size is over 500 GB. Therefore, dragging and dropping via a web browser isn't feasible due to the maximum upload limit, which I believe is 50 GB(?).

Thank you.

    Hi AZ92,

Does you Dropbox application run at all? 🤔 The described leads to doubt is it working or not. Dropbox application is responsible for keeping in sync your online Dropbox content and local Dropbox folder content! When for some reason Dropbox application is stopped both places are not in sync. Make sure you have your application running - launch it if not running.

Another reason could be when you're over-quota. Did you check that there is enough free/unused space left?

    Good luck.

      Hi!

The dropbox application is already for a while paused since 2 years.

Does it mean when I run the sync it will not remove my local files and only will uploads the files?

Just want to make sure it doesn’t delete anything ☺️

Ha..🙋 Then what surprises you actually and why do you place your OP at all?! It's normal - you just have one local folder named Dropbox and one Dropbox account - completely unrelated to each other. And will stay so while the application is "paused". 🤷 Why then have you installed Dropbox application at all? 🤔 Just a software (that doesn't work) to engage some local space... as you like.

Such a question is little difficult for direct answering. Dropbox is a sync service! That means all operations performed on Dropbox related files are performed everywhere (including deletions). In this context: Have you deleted something somewhere? 🤔 The answer, you'll give, to my last question will be the answer of your own question. In more details: If that folder, you're concerned about, was at some point on Dropbox site and you have wiped it out there, then you may (and should) expect the same folder to be removed, otherwise no.

You can be certain only that it wouldn't delete something if you haven't deleted it before, otherwise no (otherwise just opposite). As I said the deletion is part of the Dropbox work. If Dropbox cannot delete whatever needed (i.e. something intentionally deleted) that would be a BUG. 🙂

Hope it's a bit more clear.
