Potentially GBs of files lost: Dropbox not syncing fully

Hey,

I have syncing issue where DB is constantly in syncing mode. Per community advice, I unliked my account and reinstalled DB. Connected everything. It reindexed all files and synced, took nearly a day. (yet still back to syncing the invisible 5-6 files, just says Syncing.... ! )

1) The Major issue: half of my files on the computer and online on dropbox are gone. Example, one folder with over 12,000 files is reduced to about 1,500 files. Other folders contents are drastically reduced in numbers, missing key documents. Where did my files go?

2) Suspicious, after installing DB, this new "Store of new files" was set to default to Online-Only. How the heck is this useful. Whenever you make a new file it goes straight to online only? Anything from after Dec 2022 - Oct (29) 2023 are mostly no longer available.

3) It appears i've lost a large number of work files and Dropbox is still stuck in never ending sync cycles.  My DB usage doesn't seem to have decreased. Still sitting around 1.2TB / 2TB. The files I lost are also not available online which they were all synced before. Nothing makes sense other than my pure frustration. What can I do to restore my files (and faith) in DB?

I believe this started happening before updating from MacOS Ventura to Sonoma.

Old files are stored in [mac user]/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox [2023-10-28- 10/32pm]/ [my folders and files] as a backup.

All my files (new/old) seem to be now located at CloudStorage / Dropbox / [my folders and files]

Update: DB is no longer stuck in syncing.

Is it safe to remove the dated folder in CloudStorage directory? Very confused.

Hey there Adobe - sorry to hear about this.

Could you clarify if the app is 'up to date' or still syncing your files by any chance?

If it is up to date and indeed, you should be safe to delete the time-stamped backup.

Let us know of any updates!

Yes, syncing is all is up to date!

I will delete the dated folder in the cloudstorage directory.

        Thank you
