My WhatsApp photos/videos aren't added to Dropbox automatically.
Photos and videos sent to me in Whatsapp are automatically appearing in my Gallery (on Huawei P30) but are not then syncing to Dropbox. Not sure how long this has been happening. I'm sure they used t...

Hi Honeybee1, welcome to our Community!
Are the Whatsapp files added directly to your Gallery, along with all the other pictures you take on your end, or in a separate folder called "Whatsapp" let's say?
Is it safe to guess that you're currently using camera uploads, in order for you to upload your content to Dropbox? Do you get any errors if you manually try to upload the files to your account?
Keep me posted!

The photos in Whatsapp are automatically added to my Gallery. When I go into my Gallery there are 3 folders - Camera, All Photos and Videos (I didn't set these up so must be something in the phone settings). The WhatsApp photos automatically go into All Photos.
Yes, I am using Camera Uploads and all the photos/videos that I take are uploaded, but not the ones sent to me via WhatsApp. I can manually upload them from the Gallery (no error messages).
Because I've only just realised this is happening I don't have a clue now as to which photos in the Gallery (All Photos folder) have been overlooked!
Having said this I have just found some other folders in my Gallery and under a folder called Others there are WhatsApp Images and WhatsApp Videos so I'm guessing I need a way to include these in the Camera Uploads?

Hi Honeybee1, thanks for the follow up!
Can you also try to select the WhatsApp images and video folders via your camera uploads?
Simply open the Dropbox mobile app and then click the account tab in the bottom right side.
Click the Camera uploads option and then the ''Upload from'' one.
There you should be able to select any folder you want.
Let me know how it goes!
- Honeybee12 years agoExplorer | Level 4I've just clicked on the Account tab, then Camera Uploads. There is no "Upload from" option!
The only options I have under Camera Uploads are:
- Back up.... All photos or New Photos only (currently set to All photos)
- Include videos -(currently set to On)
- Use cellular data to back up (currently set to Off)
- Continuous camera uploads (currently set to Off)
- an option to turn off back up.- Abdullah892 years agoNew member | Level 2
If your WhatsApp photos and videos aren't being automatically added to Dropbox, there could be a few reasons for this. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check WhatsApp Settings:
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
- Ensure that you have a backup frequency set (e.g., daily, weekly).
- Make sure you have selected "Include videos" or a similar option, depending on your WhatsApp version.
Check Dropbox Settings:
- Open the Dropbox app on your device.
- Go to Settings > Camera Upload.
- Ensure that "Camera Upload" is enabled.
- Verify that the "Include videos" option is turned on.
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that you have a stable internet connection, as both WhatsApp and Dropbox require internet access to sync.
Check Storage Space:
- Make sure you have enough storage space available on both your device and your Dropbox account.
Manually Upload:
- If the automatic sync is not working, you can manually upload photos and videos from WhatsApp to Dropbox.
- Open WhatsApp, go to the chat or group containing the media you want to save, tap on the media to view it, and then use the Share button to save it to Dropbox.
- If the automatic sync is not working, you can manually upload photos and videos from WhatsApp to Dropbox.
Check Permissions:
- Ensure that WhatsApp has the necessary permissions to access your media files. Go to your device's settings and check WhatsApp's permissions.
Reconnect Accounts:
- Disconnect your WhatsApp and Dropbox accounts, and then reconnect them. This can sometimes resolve syncing issues.
Update Apps:
- Make sure both WhatsApp and Dropbox are updated to the latest versions. Outdated apps may have compatibility issues.
Check Sync Frequency:
- Some devices allow you to set the frequency of background tasks. Make sure that these are not set too infrequently, as this might be preventing automatic uploads.
Contact Support:
- If none of the above steps work, you might want to reach out to WhatsApp or Dropbox support for further assistance.
