My screenshots don't save to my Dropbox account on Windows, even though the feature is enabled.

My screenshots are not saving to Dropbox at all even though the option is checked to do so right under settings. In fact I have the Snipping Tool for Windows 11 turned 100% off because I hate the dang thing and prefer screenshots hence why I use the "PRT SC" button in the first place! I don't want Screenshots going to Microsoft's Stupid "OneDrive" and turned that feature off as well for that known trash for OneDrive destroyed my system and took over my desktop on my old laptop and my backup that I personally made via an External Hard Drive and a Hard Drive Enclosure with my old laptop's hard drive (since it was a power port issue that killed it) and not a hard drive failure was able to get everything back but my horror it was all still connected under a link to OneDrive and my new laptop during setup forced everything to OneDrive but unmapped everything from OneDrive to where I want it and took control back from Microsoft (wish the same can be said about the Start Menu) but that's not what I'm here for.

Ever since I had to get a new laptop because my old one died my screenshots will not save to Dropbox at all and they don't ever appear in my Dropbox "Screenshots" Folder. I literally have to open up Paint on my laptop and paste the screenshot there just to get it then put it into Dropbox.

So to reiterate it in punctuated facts:

EVER SINCE I GOT THIS NEW LAPTOP AND INSTALLED DROPBOX (BASIC) ALL OF MY SCREENSHOTS DO NOT GO TO MY SCREENSHOTS FOLDER IN DROPBOX EVEN THOUGH MY SETTINGS ARE SET FOR THAT!

Here's direct proof that Settings show that Screenshots are 100% set to save to Screenshots in Dropbox yet I go that folder and the screenshot I took is not there, it is on the Windows 11 Clipboard and I have to paste it into MS Paint then manually save that picture to Dropbox and the Screenshots folder where I wanted it in the first place!

Hey jetnova16, thanks for posting on our Community today.

Have you already tried to turn the feature Off via your Dropbox app preferences, restart your computer and then, turn the feature On again?

As for OneDrive, is it currently disabled on your computer, or did you just disable the feature to save your screenshots on it? If the latter, can you please disable OneDrive altogether for now on your device and let me know if you can save your screenshots to Dropbox after that?

  Yes, I have done that many times since I got this new laptop for your information! I am here stating this issue because I have already done all of the COMMON STEPS to get something working from turning off the setting and shutting down the computer to resetting the desired setting and then even shutting down the computer again and restarting it just for it to NOT work whatsoever!
  I have more than disabled OneDrive from my computer, I have 100% REMOVED that Microsoft TRASH for it destroyed my old laptop's desktop and I am never risking that happening ever again for I WANT CONTROL OVER MY SYSTEM, I DO NOT WANT MICROSOFT HAVING CONTROL!
  I have even discussed it was other IT Professionals that I know and correspond with, and they have had the same issue.

    HI jetnova16, did you disable the Snipping Tool in the same way as these steps?
    
    When taking a screenshot, do you only press the Print Screen button, or do you also need to press a function key on your laptop at the same time?

For some reason I cannot pate the screenshots after I press \"Print Screen\". I have dropbox on my pc set to copy link when image is ready and then there is a pop up on the bottom right when I take a picture and it says \"press ctrl+v to copy\" BUT IT DOESN'T work at all!

Hi, psychomaniac189 -- Thanks for flagging this! I'm on the Product Management team here at Dropbox, and I'd love to better understand the issue you're having.

If I'm following correctly, it sounds like you've set your Screenshot settings (in Preferences) to \"Copy Link,\" but when you take a screenshot, you're not able to paste the link.

I notice you said \"press ctrl+v to copy.\" When that pop-up appears, it should copy the link automatically -- and you should be able to use CRTL + V to paste it (vs. copy it).

If you take a screenshot and then immediately use CRTL + V to try and paste it somewhere, does that work for you? Or does it still not paste anything?

You are disgusting for adding the intrusive popup which only has one way of being removed, and that's if I don't save screenshots to Dropbox. You have a lot to answer for, and there needs to be a way to stop it. I want to take screenshots without interruption! INSTEAD, I must close your stupid popup. I completely agree: not being able to explicitly disable this pop-up is frustrating.

Our team is actively working on a fix for this, so that you can easily disable it with a dedicated setting -- stay tuned for that.

I'd also like to note that, currently, this pop-up is only in our \"beta\" version of the app. You'll know you're on beta if the middle number of your app version is \"3\" (e.g., 216.3.4255).

If you'd like to switch to the \"stable\" version of the Dropbox app (with less experimental features), you can download it here.

You're better off setting the default action to copy the image, like normal PrintScreen does, so you can immediately paste. It also looks like you're rushing and not ensuring you have focus in something you can paste in, like Paint.Net which I just tested for you. Open that or fbMessenger or Skype or MSPaint or anything that can paste an image, make sure it's focussed, the Ctrl+V. -- The real problem here is that they've recently added that intrusive popup and now it's impossible to take quick successive screenshots, because taking an immediate second one snaps the small popup. This mistake should be removed, since it cannot be removed in Notification settings.

I use the printscreen function A LOT in my work, and I usually PASTE what I printscreened to the instant messaging channel/group/work community I am at.

It has been a few days that I am UNABLE to PASTE the images I printscreened. IT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. it only saves to dropbox, but does not show in clipboard. period.

PLEASE FIX THIS.

Commenting to show my frustration with this change.
I want to save my screenshots to dropbox.
I DO NOT want dropbox to override PrtScr and force me to paste URLs instead of the actual image. I also don't care for the popup. Add more customization options instead of forcing users.
Why are you overriding default OS implementation with something worse?
Dropbox is a file sync service. Stay simple or customers will find the simple that they need elsewhere.

Hi madsami -- I totally understand the frustration. We've been working on this feature, and you should now have the option to disable the pop-up, as well as the link copying.

If you navigate to the Desktop app's Preferences (Click the Dropbox icon in the taskbar > click the account/avatar > Preferences > Screenshots), you should be able to toggle these on/off.

Please let me know if that doesn't work for you!

How come in the past you were able to save a copy of the screenshot in dropbox and still have the same image on the clipboard? Why you don't have an option to keep new changes backward compatible with that behavior? Same as above comment: \"I want to save my screenshots to dropbox.
