file name issues when batch uploading
Uploading a batch of files is a real pain because of file name issues. Is there a way/program to pre-identify the files before starting the upload action and having a stoppage during the upload due t...

Hi there jam72, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
While there's no such program at the moment, you can keep these guidelines in mind when naming the files you'd like to upload to Dropbox.
I hope this helps a tad.

I have thousands of files that I want to upload to dropbox. Am I supposed to some how open hundreds of folders to check the names of each file? From what i understand if a name is in error then the upload stops until it is corrected. Then one has to go find the file amongst all the folders.
Also, I have had files flagged whose name looks ok.

Hi jam72, sorry to jump in here!
From what you described, it sounds like you're referring to our desktop app, am I right?
Can you also give me an example of the files that looked okay, and still gave you an error?

Yes, I am trying to Upload my office sever to the Dropbox cloud, which has thousands of files. The process goes awry when Dropbox stops the uploading due to file name error. Then the process stops to find the file, which may be buried in subfolders. Then start the upload from the beginning. Finding and fixing the names before the upload process would allow this process to be successful. As it stands now I upload small portions of my server drive and break out in a cold sweat when I even think about uploading more.
I will look for a file that seems ok and get back to you.
Thanks
