Error 500 when opening shared link
I shared a link with a coworker. When they clicked the link, they got this message with a purple dart board image. "Error (500) Something went wrong. Don't worry, your files are still safe, and th...

How did you log out of the account Heather LB ? Do you have Dropbox installed on the computer?
That error usually means you've made the link incorrectly and just sent the URL of a file rather than actually creating a link. Have a look at https://help.dropbox.com/share/create-and-share-link

Hi Nancy,
Here is the message the receiver of my link got when they tried to use the link.
I logged out of my account and used the link in an incognito window. The link worked for me.
I just started using Dropbox; this is the first link I've tried to share. At this time, I don't have anyone else to test sharing links with to see if they work. I copied the link and sent it to my different email accounts (Gmail and Yahoo). Again, I signed out of Dropbox and tested the links. They worked for me.
Thanks,
Heather

Can you test the link? [email removed as per Community Guidelines]
Should take you to a folder with a Test Word Doc.

That has worked. But it looks like its a shared folder with edit permissions. Is that intentional? Does the other person have an account that they can use?
Note: Ive never seen the way that presented to me before so not sure if its something you changed, or, Dropbox has!!
Also, one thing to think about is how you sent your friend the link.... if it was via email its possible the client has cut some of the link off the end or added extra bits on which would break the link

I think you may be right about the link I shared being incomplete. You tested it and shared it again with the person and it works now.
I appreciate everyone's help though, all great thoughts and feedback.
