Dropbox Transfer slower than regular Sync
Hi there,
I'm wondering why the upload speed for a Dropbox Transfer is so much slower than using regular Sync? It quotes me about 4 hours to process a 96GB folder, while regular Sync uploaded the same folder in about 15 minutes. I'm on 1gbps fiber.
Thanks!

Hey Kingofmyroom, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
Can you please clarify which platform you're using to upload the files for your Transfer? Is it the website?
Have you tried doing this directly through the Dropbox folder in your File explorer/Finder?
Or are you right-clicking on files from other locations on your hard drive and choosing the "send a copy" option?
Keep me posted.

Hey Hannah,
I'm using the Dropbox app for MacOS. v175.3.5368
When I move files and folders to my Dropbox in Finder, they upload really quickly.
For the slow transfers I'm referring to, I'm right clicking on an item in Finder, choosing 'Share...' then using Dropbox Transfer.
Thanks

Hey Kingofmyroom, can you try to create the Transfer using the web, just to see if that's going to make any difference?
You can also try downgrading from the beta build that you're currently using, and then using our stable one. You can do this by accessing your account settings on the Dropbox website and turning Early releases off.
After that, you can use this link to install the app.

In my experience, Dropbox Transfer when invoked from the MacOS share menu always quotes an extremely inflated ETA throughout the entire upload, but it finishes in the correct time. It looks like a math bug in the progress estimate.
