Hey johnpd, sorry to see you're having trouble.
Have you taken a look into this article with info about conflicted copies, to see if any of the reasons for their creation, sound like something that might have happened in your case?

There is an Open Office data base file involved so that would be almost impossible to resolve. What we want to do is delete the conflicting files and roll back to a back up I have from earlier in the month which I think is good. But there is no option to delete particular versions. There are three of us updating these files. I tried a restore from another person that did an update. His file shows no conflicting message. But after the restore, that restored file now shows the conflicting message with my name associated with it. I don't know what we can do to get rid of this. How do we get back to ground zero. This is a confusing mess.

Hey John, thanks for the additional info.
Just to see if I understand correctly, do you mean that you restored a file to a previous version and after it got restored, the restored version got the 'conflicted copy' appended to it again?
Also, when did this issue start happening? Did you notice any changes on your computer(s) before this happened, like an OS update, for example?

OK it appears that the conflict messages have finally disappeared. I am not sure what was going on. Another issue I have run into is that the Dropbox desktop app on my computer is updating at least once a month. I have a shortcut on my desktop for it. When these updates are applied, the shortcut is changed from the program executable to a link to the Dropbox files. What is causing this?
