Backing up select folders
I want to backup (not sync) only select folders from my "Documents" into dropbox. But in the backup tab, I am not able to select the folders to backup from "Documents." Backing up entire "Documents" eats up all the space in no time. Any helpful hints on selecting specific folders appreciated.

That's not how it works. The "backup" feature works by moving specific folders into your local Dropbox folder so they sync. Only the Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders can be selected, not specific folders within, and no other folders besides those.
If you want to have just a specific set of folders backed up on Dropbox, then you need to move or copy them into your Dropbox folder and allow them to sync. If you copy them and don't want two copies on your computer, use Selective Sync or Smart Sync to remove the local copy from your Dropbox folder, leaving it available online.
