Space and storage
294 TopicsAllow a personal account to have more than 3 TB, or more than 4 TB with the add on
Hello, I'm a graphic designer with over 15 years of workload. This obviously equates to extreme files sizes. I was disappointed to learn Dropbox don't offer a package for single users over 3TB. I work solely and require more cloud space and don't want to have to upgrade to a 'per user' plan as this isn't cost effective. This option has to become available soon.57KViews171likes205CommentsHow do I locate large files/folders on the web (not laptop)
I have a free version with a limit of 16.3GB. I normally have about 13-15GB in use, so around 85-90%. This morning DB tells me it can no longer sync, and apparently I have used 32.5GB of my allowed quota of 16.3GB! Yesterday I'd only used about 14GB. How can I find out what these files are? Is there any to search (on the web as the laptop can't sync) for files or folders over a certain size? I've no idea what's going on but am now unable to use DB. Any advice gratefully received. Why are files shared with me counted against my space usage? Is this data counted twice? If someone who is sharing files with me is paying for this space, why should I have to pay as well just to access it? I am out of space, I have no intention of buying more space, and yet, when someone shares some files with me, I cannot access them and I am forced to buy space in order to access them. Why is this? Thank you.Solved26KViews4likes144CommentsCommand line code to switch between "Allow offline access" and "Online only" instead of mouse clicks
It would be nice to be able to switch between "allow offline access" and "online only" on the command line instead of using the mouse. For example, "% dropbox -offline_accsess true file1,file2,file3...", "% dropbox -offline_accsess false file1,file2,file3..." Once this is done, it is possible to treat files from the application in much the same way as if they were stored locally, while saving disk space by making them "online only".649Views2likes6CommentsOption to remove "Family Room" folder from hierarchy.
It would be a great feature to be able to remove the "Family Room" folder from view. Whether it is fully deleted or just hidden really doesn't matter. I have a very specific hierarchy for my needs and these unused folders add to the clutter. This option should extend to your local file folders as well as the online version and the mobile app. Thank you!513Views2likes3Commentsduplicate photos without impacting storage
i have lots of photos and videos that belong to multiple hierarchies. for example if i'm on a trip and i record video of some concerts i'm at, i save those videos to a 'travel' folder organized by place and date and also to a music folder organized by the band i'm recording. this is really handy as i can share the entire history of footage i have of that band with someone easily by sharing the the band folder and i don't have to wade through the other videos/pictures from the trip. ideally, i could do this without impacting storage. after all, it is the same photo or video, and under the hood dropbox could just have two different pointers to the same video and i could share one pointer without sharing the other, thus not doubling the storage space. i think this would be useful for a lot of users!195Views0likes1CommentIndividual user having trouble uploading documents to a Corporate Dropbox account
Hi, I have a free individual Dropbox membership. I'm a member of a local Rotary Club that has a Corporate Dropbox account. I'm able to access documents in the Rotary drop box (e.g. view documents, download document). However, I have not been able to upload documents into the Rotary Dropbox. I keep getting the error message that I need to upgrade my account to increase my storage. I've uploaded documents to other Corporate Dropbox accounts before without having to have a paid membership. any ideas why I'm having trouble with the Rotary Dropbox? Thanks,Solved2.1KViews0likes4Comments
