All my files started re-syncing and the app is still 'indexing'

My dropbox is stuck syncing all the folders linked to my account - roughly 350,000 files. This occurred randomly. I've since paused all syncing but then when I need to go to sync specific files it doesn't come up as an option anymore. I've synced selected folders in my preferences in settings and saved it but it still syncs all of my files. I've logged out, uninstalled the app and restarted my mac. Not sure how to stop this issue. If anyone could please advise. Thanks. The latest update is now saying "Indexing 130,000 files"

Sorry to hear about this, ESanders.

There's really no way to determine what might cause your files to re-sync; it could have been a third party app looking at your files, like an antivirus, for example.

Is the indexing process stuck? Usually indexing takes much less than actual syncing, so you should be good soon.

If not, please hover your mouse over your Dropbox icon and let me know the current sync status and version of the app.

      Thanks in advance.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Check Preferences: Open Dropbox Preferences, go to the Sync tab, and ensure only the necessary folders are selected for syncing.
    2. Pause and Resume Syncing: Pause syncing, wait a few minutes, and then resume syncing to see if it helps with indexing.
    3. Restart Dropbox: Quit Dropbox completely and restart it.
    4. Clear Dropbox Cache: Clear the Dropbox cache by deleting the contents of ~/Dropbox/.dropbox.cache.
    5. Check for Updates: Ensure you’re using the latest version of Dropbox.
