Hi 00aime , thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It sounds like you've enabled the computer backup feature.
Could you try disabling the Backup feature by following these steps and choose the option to 'Keep content in folders on this Mac'?
Keep me updated with any progress!

Hi Jay,
I've actually checked that. And it is does not seem that the computer backup feature is enabled as in the "Backups" tab in the Preferences menu, when I click on the "Manage backups" button, everything is deselected and it doesn't look like it's even set up :
I'm not sure I understand the steps to take in the link you sent me as I do not want to delete A backup, I want to disable the feature. Is there something I'm missing? Furthermore, when I click the dropbox icon in my menu bar, I do not see a "Sync&Backups" Tab :
Kindly advise,
Thank you!

If the system Downloads folder is in the Dropbox folder, then it means the Backup feature was enabled at some point.

One small clarification 00aime:
You mentioned that your "My Mac" folder inside your Dropbox folder, contains your "Downloads" folder.
Can you please clarify if you can access the Downloads folder it contains, make a copy of its contents, and then place it in the actual, original file-path in your Finder?
If you're getting an error, let me know!
