I’ve run into a similar issue with decompressing files on macOS before, and it can definitely be annoying. One thing that worked for me was trying a different app like The Unarchiver—sometimes the default Mac decompressor doesn’t handle certain formats well. Another thing to check is if the file is corrupted; I’ve had that happen before and no app could open it.
Also, if you're dealing with 7z files, I found a blog on iboostup.com that had a simple guide on how to make 7z files work on a Mac. It was super helpful when I was troubleshooting a similar problem!
