I’m also having the same issue when trying to work on Microsoft Word on my iPad, saving to Dropbox. The file will work fine when I use a desktop, but then when I try to open the same file using the Word iPad app, I get a message “can’t upload - something is wrong and changes can’t be upload” and it prompts me to save a copy. I don’t want to save a new copy every time I want to save a file.
Similar to other users, when I try to export from Word as a PDF, the file saves but is 0 bytes.
I submitted a ticket but also wanted to add to this forum.

Adding a brief note to say that I’ve been struggling with this same issue since late February. I can rename the file in Dropbox and then “save a copy” with the original name in the same place from Word, but I can’t overwrite the original file from Word and the auto-save/upload does not work. I suspect a permissions issue related to overwriting the file somehow?

I am having same/similar problem. My error message is in a yellow ribbon/bar across the top of the document: “Can’t upload - Something’s wrong and your changes can’t be uploaded. Save File Copy”
I cannot save a file copy even if I change the file name. I get an error message “Cannot Save File”
Hoping for a solution SOON.

I have also been having this same problem for some time. Affects most of the work I have tried to use my iPad to replace my laptop with -- PowerPoint, Word, Excel. Very frustrating.
- ShepNeil567 years agoNew member | Level 2Well I have the latest APP 88.2 (which was only updated this morning) and exactly the same problem occurred today. I opened a Word document received via email. It saved to my Dropbox file OK and I made a couple of edits and then the “Cannot upload file” message occurred so to save my changes I had to save it under a different name.

Well, today finally it works :grinning:! Hope it will last

I am also having the same problem on iPad Pro. I have a bunch of files with yellow triangles and exclamation points saying the files have not been uploaded, upload failed. I have tried deleting and reconnecting dropbox and it doens’t work. Also get the yellow ribbon on top of documents saying there is problem and the file can’t be uploaded. I am them prompted to save a copy and sometimes it does and other times it doesn’t.
I work remotely often and this is a critical function. It appears this issue has been identified some time ago. It needs to be fixed ASAP.

All of my Microsoft and Dropbox apps have been updated, and my OS system, I have been experiencing the same issue and your support team just told me its not a problem with Dropbox go to Microsoft. If you are going to offer a service that is meant to be inclusive/integrated make sure it works. At this time I have been experiencing this issue for months and for a frequest business traveler who works primarily from their iPad Pro and iPhone this is extremely frustrating.
What is the solution?
- Sanchez7 years agoDropbox StaffHey sim61, welcome to our forum!I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been experiencing this issue. Have you tried unlinking and relinking your Dropbox account from the Microsoft Office app? If not, give this a try:To unlink a Dropbox account from an Office Mobile app:
- Open the Office Mobile app.
- Tap the folder icon.
- From the list of places, tap and hold Dropbox.
- Once you've held your finger on Dropbox for a few seconds, a trash can icon will appear in the top right corner of the screen. Tap the trash can to remove Dropbox from the Office Mobile app.
To re-link a Dropbox account to an Office Mobile app:- Open the Office Mobile app.
- Tap the folder icon.
- Tap Add a place.
- Tap Dropbox.
- Tap Allow next to the Dropbox account listed (if you're already signed in to the Dropbox app). Or, to link a new Dropbox account, tap Use a different account. You'll be directed to a browser window where you can enter the credentials for the Dropbox account you'd like to connect.
I hope this helps. Let me know.Have a great weekend :sunglasses:

Interesting thing happening. I am in Malaysia, and everything is syncing together perfectly. For the past six or eight months in the US, it hasn’t worked. Maybe coincidence, who knows?
