Open .pages files in Dropbox on iPad

Hi there

I‘m moving away from Office 365 to Apple apps. When on my iPad, when I click on a Word file, I get the „open in“ button to open in Microsoft Word. When I click on a .pages file, I only get an „open“ button which, when clicked, opens the file in Dropbox with no editing options. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Roman

Right now the "Open in" button only connects app which support a special kind of the Dropbox API to write files back.

The iWork suite (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) all support opening files in Dropbox using the Files integration the Dropbox app offers. It's more cumbersome but you can navigate within Pages to the file to edit it in place.

Making this button offer easier "open in app" via the Files integration is a good feature request, however.

Hey romanroth - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Instead of opening the file in question, have you tried exporting it to your Pages app by any chance?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.

      Thanks for your reply, Walter

I don‘t want to export and thus create a new file, I want to just open it in iOS Pages app.
When I click on a Word document, I get this:

By clicking on „open in“ I can choose Microsoft Word, open the file, edit it and save it again. Don‘t get that button with a .pages file.

      Hope this makes sense.
