Downloading Large files
How to download large folders, when I click the download button, it was not worked, instead of saying this on the top corner 'this zip file is too large'

In order to download a folder as a Zip, it needs to contain less than 20GB of data and fewer than 10,000 files. If the folder is larger than either of those, you'll need to download the files within the folder individually, or use the Dropbox application on your computer and let the folder sync to your drive.

I have a client that has posted very large media files (2-300gb) to his server and shared them with me. They won't download. dropbox support suggest I take them out of the folder and download them individually - we're not talking folders, these are stand alone files. How do I fix this?

How did he share these files with you? Did he use a File Transfer, shared link or shared folder?
Also, do you get any specific errors when trying to download the content? And if yes, what is the error?

I started by using a shared link and downloading the media files posted. 263GB. It created a zip file that could not be opened. I then brought it into my account, synced to my hard drive - it took almost 4 hours to sync the files - and then import the files in an Avid editing system. This entire process took longer to import media than to actually edit the show. My internet connection is hard wired and running 583mbps. I was expecting some very large files to be posted to me and I asked if there were any shortcuts, I was told no in a chat. Unfortunately this started on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend and I had no IT backup.
I spoke w/ IT briefly Monday night - we are going to use a different path for the large files.
I think dropbox works fine for the editing classes I'm teaching - we use much smaller files - but not set tp for the movement of very large files.
What I'd like to be able to is import the media files - a 1080p feature film is 180 -260gB, a 4K film between 700-1100gB - directly from a shared account into my editing system. I haven't tried to do this yet, the project that's giving me trouble is a freebee I'm doing that's only 263gB - but even that gave problems.

Hi james spach, as you pointed out, if you're using a shared link the options you have would be to either download the content locally, from the shared link and then import them into your editing program.
Or you could add the content to your Dropbox account -provided that you have enough space to do that-, allow them to sync locally to your Dropbox app, then import them there.
When working with larger files, it can indeed be a bit time consuming, but this is the way to go.
