58 TopicsHow can I restore my account to a version with older files?
I have the basic dropbox on two computers - say Desktop and Laptop. Due to a Desktop restore from Idrive cloud backup my dropbox on Desktop has updated with old folders/files which were previously deleted or modified and a sync operation up to the max memory allowed in basic account has occured (dropbox stopped sync as memory got full) so now I have incorrect contents on the Web dropbox. I cannot use the rewind facillity as its a basic account (tells be to go buy an upgrade if I try and rewind a folder}. To get back to my dropbox before it got accidentaly updated with old stuff, my idea is to to uninstall dropbox from Desktop and delete the local dropbox folder. My Laptop was not turned on at the time so that holds the correct Dropbox contents. If I now log into my dropbox web account via a browser and delete all files and folders in the web account and then turn on the Laptop, will the dropbox on my Laptop Sync/upload to the dropbox account and effectively recreate the correct contents. on the Dropbox Web account. I can then re install dropbox on the Desktop and the dropbox will now download from the Web and be correct on the Desktop. Will this work please? Just tried to access one of my Excel files stored in Dropbox and it appears every single one of my Dropbox file names have been changed. They all have 247_Plankton added to the file name and the file types have all been changed also so I cannot open any of my files. Any idea what is happening? Did I get hacked????214Views0likes1CommentWhat does extended version history mean?
I'm very confused about the subscription for Extended Version History. I have a plus plan does it mean after a year photos or files I loaded automatically delete? I don't understand this Version History part. I read as much as I could to understand but don't get it. Am I going to lose my photos and files without knowing it?Solved3.4KViews2likes7CommentsLost my updates on an Excel file after 'Resource Deadlock' warning
I was working on a file on Excel, I thought I had saved but possibly not. The file was live in my window. Excel did not crash, but when I went back to Excel - it had disappeared and when I tried opening it I got a Resource Deadlock Warning. I wasn't connected to the internet at the time. I probably should have checked my old files then but it didn't occur to me. When I was next on the internet I opened the file and it was a file from over 3 weeks ago. I have since searched everywhere on version history/events and my hard disk temporary files for the old file but only the version from September has come up. I feel probably no way of recovering but thought worth checking what went wrong and if anyone else has had this problem. Not sure if it is a dropbox or excel issue or a combination of the two.217Views0likes2CommentsI want to rewind a file to 09/13, but I only see a version from 06/05.

I am the owner of a shared excel file that is now missing. I cannot see it listed, it is not in my deleted items. I went to my events, and see that the document was edited 2 weeks ago by a colleague. When I try to open it I get the message that " the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." I'm using a Basic Dropbox account, and discovered that some shared folders were accidentally deleted by a user 60 days ago. The info in the Help Center indicates deleted items on a Basic account are kept for 30 days, but are they permanently removed after 30 days, or if we were to upgrade to a plan with a longer restoration window, would we still be able to restore those folders and documents?345Views0likes6CommentsCan I roll back my Dropbox account to 1-2 years ago with a specific subscription?
Hello! I moved files from Dropbox to Google Drive. I'm not sure exactly when I did this move; it was somewhere around 1-2 years ago. I realized this morning that some of the files never properly transferred to Google Drive (the folders are all there, but the files are not). I'm trying to figure out a way to restore the Dropbox file. I can still see one file on the dropbox app, because it was starred but I cannot see two other files that I'd like to access (the two others were not starred). Is there any way to go back 1-2 years? Do I need a specific version of dropbox to do this?200Views0likes1Comment
