upload
1113 TopicsI tried to upload a folder via file request, but nothing happened. Has it been uploaded?
I have received a file request from another user, to upload a folder into his storage "area". I got the email, clicked the link, and got a window with a file submission area. I pressed the upload button. There was no response, no "upload started" or "progress" message. I cannot tell if the folder is being uploaded or has been uploaded. Eventually I can ask the requester if he got the files, but that is potentially a tedious back-and-forth process (especially if the upload failed, or didn't even start). Is there a way for the non-requester to verify that the file is being uploaded?20Views0likes2CommentsUploading images/videos from iPhone resets the name to today's date instead of its creation date
Hello Dear Dropbox-Team, I find it very useful that Dropbox changes the names of my images and videos to this uniform format "[Foto|Video] DD.MM.YY, HH MM SS.[jpg|png|mp4|...]" when I upload them from my iPhone using the client. For example, my image named "IMG_1234" will be named "Foto 01.01.20, 12 59 55". This helps me a ton to organise my images/videos on a separate drive by sorting by name, since the date is embedded in the filename. Unfortunately, this does not work for all images. After uploading some of my images, the creation date is reset to today's date, which breaks this organisation system. I have not changed the metadata on these images, but it still happens. Is there a way to make the naming convention consistent, propably with a fix? Thank you in advance for answering my question 🙂399Views0likes9CommentsGenerate a unique email address for "Email to Dropbox" based on usernames.
For Emailing to Dropbox, they use a 5 random-word list model... so something like: ecology.tastey.pillow.depth.example @addtodropbox.com There is a big problem with this... both for Dropbox and their users. It's a nightmare to use. Try telling a client that URL. Result: NONE USE. They should use a user generated model with tight guidelines. so Something like: DigitalMarketing1000@ or RickStark100@ Easy to Pick a winner - easy for the user to use. THAT is what we want. There is easily a million easy options for both users above. So why do they do it? This model is easy for the IT department - the computer geeks decided... not the marketing dept. / user advocates. If DB is looking for EASE OF USE for their CUSTOMERS... then go to the trouble of user created addresses. Their current model is EASY FOR THEM... but poo for the user. Let me ask you: Do these super-duper-really-long-multi-word-URLS-seem-very-usable-to-you dot question? Do they seem like they would be popular to users to you? If your answer is NO - then THAT is why adoption is low for emailing to dropbox and I and millions of others don't use it. Switch to a tougher (user-generated address), but better for the consumer, model. Go for usable... which is above functional. Thoughts? Support? When interacting with the API, I get a path/not_found error. This happens when I upload a file to dropbox using the path /2/files/upload. After that, I create a link to the file using the path /2/sharing/create_shared_link and specify the path_display received after uploading the file. The error occurs very rarely, but it does not allow you to get a link. What could be the problem?34Views0likes1CommentI can't open/edit/upload files inside my desktop app

I pay for Dropbox Plus and have heaps of cloud space to upload to. Unfortunately I can't seem to be able to upload a 250GB folder whether I use the website or the Desktop APP. Am I missing something fundamental or is 250GB over a limit. It's driving me nuts. Thanks for any help. Vic24Views0likes3CommentsShow destination folder name/path for 'Share to Dropbox'
Android OS: Share>Upload to Dropbox>'Choose upload location': That dialog window does not show the name/path of the destination folder it is displayingto the user. Often this forces the user to tap 'back' several times to see what node of the folder tree the app will send the file(s) to. If the user hasn't done a recent 'Share>Add to Dropbox' operation, they have no memory of what the last destination folder path was. Please help the user know right away the name/path if the default destination folder. Thank you. P.S. I wish this feedback system would allow for screenshots to be uploaded.786Views2likes13CommentsWhen I try to upload content using the website, nothing happens.
Since last week I have been unable to upload any files to the Dropbox website. When I click 'upload or drop' and then choose 'file', nothing happens. I have tried clearing the browser (Chrome) cache and deleting cookies, restarting my laptop, and trying a different browser (Edge), but no luck with any of those potential solutions. My colleagues use the desktop version of Dropbox and none of them have had similar issues or know how to help me. Many thanks, RosanneSolved59KViews0likes9Comments
