I have read the earlier discussions on getting DropBox into Finder and the bottom Menu but unfortunately they are not working on my new MacBookPro (which is a very basic model). It is using Sonoma 14.7.1. I need to constantly access my DropBox files from wherever I am working, but am unable to dop so. This is a huge hindrance to my work on a daily basis. Desperate for advice please.27Views0likes13CommentsFiles aren't syncing on my Windows device, but no firewall or network issues.
Dropbox (DB) periodically stops syncing but there are no firewall nor network issues. I just find out that files have not been updated despite my working online for hours with no issues. This is not a firewall issue either. I can uninstall and reinstall the desktop app and things work again...for a while. Inevitably the sync fails eventually. On occasion I can stop the DB processes with Task Manager then restart the app and the sync SOMETIMES starts again. But just now I tried that and it didn't work. Likely I'll either have to re-start or more likely uninstall and reinstall the app. Anyone else have this problem, and if so, did you resolve it? I can't figure this out. It seems to be pretty random. I'm on Windows 11 Home.17Views0likes2CommentsI can't make files online-only on my Windows machine
Earlier I could make folders and documents "only available online" from the filemanager on my PC by right-click. Now my PC is full and I want to reinnstall in, but I don't manage to make my dropbox folders only available online. This description help.dropbox.com/nb-no/sync/make-files-online-only tells me that that is still possible, but the opsion is not available on my PC any more. If I delete the files, I'll also delete them online. What to do? I have a family account.9Views0likes4Comments"Make available offline" option is not working on folder level on Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1
Hi, On macOS Sequoia 15.1.1, the following menu on folder : "make available offline" (my translation from french) is not working. I would have to select it on each file to get it available offline. Do you experience the same issue ?60Views0likes9CommentsSyncing to all devices including external SSD connected to the PC
I have a Dropbox subscription. My devices are synced (phone and PC). I bought a Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD and connected it to the PC. I Backed up the PC to the SSD throughout Dropbox Backup. I was expecting to be able to open files and folders offline in the SSD, but this doesn't happened. I am almost sure I didn't understand the processes. I know that with a simple USB device I can reach files offline when working on the PC. So I will greatly appreciate to be tutored for 2 things. How to backup the PC to the SSD with Dropbox; How to make the SSD available as the PC to open files and folder. In the PC I have only a litle space, less than 50G free, and in the SSD I have 4T. So I want it to be the place containing offline Dropbox Files and Folder. I tried to be clear. Obiously I am poorly skilled in Superuser.16Views0likes1CommentCan't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.61Views0likes3CommentsDisable sync status icons & context menu injection
These sync status icons Dropbox app is generating while running, and forcibly, slowly serving them to Explorer without asking, are annoying. The context menu options, injected only when Dropbox app is running, are even more annoying. Status icons are significantly slowing down Explorer, and the context menu distortion messes with muscle memory. I'm catching myself turning off Dropbox entirely to avoid these, at which point it makes me consider if I shouldn't just switch to pCloud or something. How to turn them off? A toggle, a registry key, hex editing the Dropbox binary, I don't care. I need a way. For reference, pCloud:37Views0likes5CommentsThere are two Dropbox folders on my computer and both seem to be syncing to Dropbox.
The old Dropbox main folder (D:\Dropbox (Westcoast) remains as a junction since the change of Dropbox main folder naming some years back. New files are saved correctly in the new folder system but appears also in the old folder together with all other old files. But when I try to delete a file in the old junction folder it's also deleted in the correct main folder. How can I safely remove the junction such new files are not appearing and ultimately delete the old junction folder hierarchy without destroying files and folders in the correct main folder.31Views0likes5CommentsI want to move my Dropbox folder to D drive but it says I have to disable backup
Hello, I read some other advice about this, and this is how far I got before I got stuck. Opened the Drobox app on my Taskbar. Clicked on my Avatar and then picked Preferences. Went down to Sync. Clicked on Dropbox Folder Location, changed it to my D Drive. Started moving, then stopped and said I had to disable PC Backup. Opened up the app on the Taskbar again and paused syncing indefinitely. Went through all the steps again, but got the same message. Any suggestions? Renate33Views0likes1Comment
