3049 TopicsHow to Workaround "Zip File is Too Large" Error
I'm sharing a multitude of large files with colleagues via a Dropbox link that are nearly 120GB in size. However, they're telling me Dropbox doesn't allow them to download it due to an error saying the "zip file is too large". Confused, I tried the link on an incognito browser to see for myself, and I see the error too. Why is there a download file size limitation? My colleagues don't have Dropbox accounts of their own to transfer these files to (and I doubt they'd be willing to to make paid accounts to do it), and I'm not giving my account login info to them (as a few threads on this issue suggested) to be able to download it via the Desktop app. I saw in a thread made a few years ago that Dropbox is easily capable of raising the file size download limit. They did it some months after someone complained about there being a 1 Gigabyte download size limit. Why don't they raise the download size limit much higher? (Or better yet, not have a limit at all?) I'm a paying customer, and the very reason I subscribed to Dropbox in the first place was to have a cloud service to store and share large files with people. If I wanted to deal with sharing smaller file sizes, I wouldn't even be paying for Dropbox's 2TB plan to begin with. I'd be using the Dropbox free version, or sites like Google Drive.Solved29KViews6likes9CommentsHow can an external user share a folder with other people outside the team?
Hi, I have shared one of my dropbox folders with an external user outside my team. I would like him to be able to share that folder with other users. Is it possible to give this one user that permission? When he right clicks-> share on the folder, he gets a message saying he can only share with a link. I would like him to be able to add other external users with email address.32Views0likes3CommentsRemove "Log in or sign up" Popup when downloading from a shared link
We recently chose Dropbox as the best-looking and most functional drive-sharing tool for our video production company. However, there's an annoying popup prompting clients to log in or sign up when we share links. The "Continue with download only" button is easily missed, especially by older clients, making us look unprofessional. It's frustrating that such a customizable platform has this issue. We hope for a solution soon!4.7KViews7likes33CommentsNotification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.5Views0likes0CommentsCan I share a folder? If so, then how?
I was a member some years ago but deleted my account for various reasons. I have recently joined the free version and, obviously, see a lot of changes have taken place. In "the old days" if I wanted to share a lot of photos, I would insert them in a folder (I can't remember the name), and email the person I wanted to share with, and they could access the folder through a link in the email. Is it possible to still do this, or is creating a shared folder the way now?19Views0likes1CommentBe able to select multiple files from a shared link (to download).
I recceived a shared Dropbox link from a family member. Using a browser, I can open the shared link and view or download individual files. I can also download ALL files in the shared link. However, I cannot select multiple files to download. When viewing the files that I own, I can select multiple files. This same functionality should be available with files available from a shared link.18Views0likes1CommentI need to remove some members from my shared folders, but I don't seem to be the owner.
I have discontinued a business relationship with a few people and would now like to unshare some of my folders in Dropbox. However, I don't seem to be able to do that, and what's worse, one of the ex-associates seems to be the OWNER of a folder in my account! How do I fix this? Mike.23Views0likes2CommentsIs it necessary to have to verify identity when accessing a shared folder through a link?
I shared a folder to "anyone with the link". When someone tries to access it from a new browser (never signed in to Dropbox before) they are always hit with a message to verify identity. Is there no way around this message so they can just get to the folder? Attaching screenshot. Thanks, Christi69Views0likes9CommentsAllow multiple Dropbox Transfer owners or to have the ability to send a Transfer as a team.
Would like to see a way to share ownership of a Transfer. We have a team that uses Transfer regularly to send files externally, but have no way for those team members to know what each person sent (they are not admins, nor should they be). Is it possible to create co-owners of Transfers to allow multiple individuals to manage Transfers together? Or send Transfers from a "team" rather than an individual user?25Views0likes1Comment
