I can no longer (just since a few days) edit any files from Microsoft (.xlsx, .docx or .pptx) on my iPhone (14 with iOS18). I can only read them. I do subscribe on Microsoft 365 and I have always been able to open and edit Microsoft files from my phone. It works fine on PC. Also If I copy the file from Dropbox to OneDrive (on the PC), everything works fine even from the phone when opened from OneDrive. When clicking on the file in Dropbox asking for example to open in Excel, I get the answer that the file is stored on a Server which is not supported Please Help29Views0likes2CommentsThe mobile app isn't uploading or indexing photos in the background.
Hi ... I've noticed that the DropBox IOS Mobile App isn't uploading or indexing photos in the background. To be perfectly honest the App isn't doing anything at all whilst minimised. The screen shot below shows if the app isn't shutdown fully and is left running in the background the days are not even updating. (Phone switched on plugged in over night). Instead of displaying "Today" "Today" & Yesterday it should read "Today", Yesterday and the 28th December. Restarting the app corrects the problem. I do appreciate IOS does dictate to some extent what apps can and can't do in the background especially when using battery power or the battery is low, but it makes no difference if my iPhone 13 is plugged in or not as the Dropbox app doesn't update or upload photos in the background. I've tried the same test with OneDrive which does what it is meant to do and will update and upload photos in the background, only stopping when the phone is indicating low battery power, or there is a poor Wifi, Cell phone coverage... Other IOS apps also seem to update ok which would point to a possible fault with your app ... any thoughts, am I missing something? .... Thanks in Advance.. Please enable multiple file selection or remember the last folder during the transfer file process. Currently in iOS mobile app I can only pick one file at a time and because it goes back to the root folder for each new selection I have to find my way back to the same folder over and over again when transferring multiple files. Thank you.42Views0likes5CommentsUnable to download Dropbox Paper Android - Was made for an older version of Android
Hi - I have a Fairphone 5 on Android 14 and I recently went to install Dropbox Paper, but the Play Store says that the app was made for an older version of Android and thus am unable to download it. I have tried joining the beta program to see if that changed things, but it did not. Is this a known issue? Is Dropbox releasing an update soon? How can I install Dropbox Paper?36Views1like5CommentsCannot open Excel files with the Excel app through Dropbox on iPhone
I use the Dropbox app on my iphone. I used to be able to open excel files in excel by using “open with - excel”. But now it sends me to a screen saying Microsoft Integration wants permission. I hit the Allow button (the only other option available is “learn more”) and it just takes me back to the list of files in Dropbox. I can never get past that. I used to be able to open them from the Excel app as well, but not now. What has changed and what can I do?Solved8.3KViews1like31CommentsHow can I upload photos of my phone?
Storage on my phone is full. I want to save all my photos (10,000 or so) to dropbox and then delete them off my phone. Normally when I open the dropbox app on my phone, it automatically uploads my photos. I can see them on the app on my phone. I can see them on my dropbox web app. I have no idea what is happening with the photos in the 'camera uploads folder on my dropbox desktop app (it just seems to be uploading but never ends and the photos are all over the place. What can i do to free up phone storage and not lose my photos? Today my dropbox phone app wont upload any photos - it is saying 'your device storage is full, please delete some files and restart dropbox'. The answer to question 1 might help but if anyone has any tips on how to get the photos off my phone and permanently saved to dropbox it will be appreciated. Thanks48Views0likes5CommentsAlways have the option to automatically upload videos with camera uploads selected.
Please automatically upload videos from camera roll to Dropbox. Videos can be more precious than photos to users and this feature being optional with no prompt or notification to warn as such can cause great distress if missed. Most other platforms have this done automatically so users do not think to double check this presumably given feature. If you insist on this feature remaining please at least incorporate more notifications/banners to clearly show the user that it is off as a warning.Solved41Views0likes3CommentsiPad Files app not showing Dropbox folders and how I managed to solve this.
In working with a new iPad, I discovered that the Files app was not correctly connecting with Dropbox. No Dropbox folders showed up either in the Files app or in any other app with an open feature that would normally have been able to access Dropbox files. Oddly, when I clicked “Dropbox” in the list, there were no folders but I could add a folder and that new folder showed up in Dropbox on other devices (and in the Dropbox app on the iPad)! So there was some connection but not much… This is not an issue I’m experiencing on any of my other Apple devices (Mac or iOS). In talking with Apple support they had me delete the Files app, reboot the iPad, then reinstall “Files.” I did that, but to no effect. They escalated me to a higher level of support but while I was waiting, I also deleted Dropbox and reinstalled it. That solved the problem! So, if you can’t access your Dropbox folders and files in Files or in any of your other iPad apps, just delete and reinstall Dropbox—problem solved (at least for me, this time!)4KViews4likes6CommentsView dropbox backups on app
As described in this thread, the new version of dropbox backup is great but has a major downside: files stored via backups can no longer be accessed within the dropbox app! Quoting @mbriney from the above-linked thread because I can't say it any better: I understand the principle of having the major "backups" be in a different segment of dropbox.. but it shouldn't be that hard to access all the files. Maybe inside the regular current Dropbox app, feature a button that allows up to actually open the files that are in this "backups" section? OR maybe create another "Dropbox Backups" app that will allow us to remotely view these backup files without having to go thru the browser?12KViews24likes24Comments
