Sadly, I had already downloaded another and have a problem -- instead of picking up my old dropbox folder, the installer wants to rename it. I'm not sure what to do now. except reboot in the middle of the installation process. Sounds fun, eh?74Views0likes12CommentsSecure and hidden files
It would be a great idea to implement an extra layer of protection to be able to hide certain files or be able to lock them with a set password within the app since I experience multiple users on multiple machines of mine being able to access most of the files. Therefor I would really benefit from a folder I can lock with my personal password and therefor hide sensitive information or files that should not be accessed by other users but me. I would suggest calling it something like Vault or Hidden Files. This could also be done via integration through the apps, let people decide if they want to install the vault feature or not.31Views1like3CommentsWhat's the actual issue with Apple FileProviders API
I'm trying to reply to this post https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001016/dropbox-on-file-provider-support-for-macos-questions/781551/replies/783389 but in a dropbox fashion "Replies have been turned off for this discussion": billgdbx can you explain exactly what is the exact issue with the Apple FileProvider API for a software engineer? What exactly does "download-on-demand" mean compared to the download now button I see in macOS finder? When I briefly read the API docs, it seems like the API should be enough; however, I've read many blog posts mentioning that the problem lies with Apple and not with Dropbox/Google/Microsoft. All these posts are blanket statements without any technical details. I'm looking for the hardcore facts, not opinions. I want to know whether I should consider ditching apple? Or dropbox? If there is an issue at apple's side - I want to know what it actually is so I can make my own decisions rather than being treated like an idiot and a fool. In my experience, dropbox announces all breaking changes to customer as ultimatums without any true explanation. Now that I think about it... it is actually coming from disrespect and even contempt to your customers.47Views0likes4CommentsI reinstalled the Dropbox app and now I'm being asked to rename the old folder and create a new one.
I just downloaded dropbox from their site. It is installing. It has reached the point of creating the dropbox folder -- if this was a new install. However, this is a reinstall. "Couldn't rename Dropbox to make room for your Dropbox folder. Dropbox needs to rename your existing folder or file named Dropbox to finish installing. Please close any open documents and try again." I have no files open that I can see. Should I reboot?54Views0likes5CommentsDropbox beta version appears on WinGet
Just letting you know that there is a beta version of Dropbox on the winget (Windows programme updater) system. >winget upgrade Name Id Version Available Source -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dropbox Dropbox.Dropbox 221.4.5365 222.3.4916 winget That's a bit confusing, and it would probably be better just to put release versions there.77Views1like5CommentsSync results under "Your Activity" show's yesterday's synced files not today's.
I can see syncing occurring with the dropbox notification icon on the Mac. When I look, syncing runs. When it completes, instead of showing what was just synced, it only shows files synced the previous day under the Yesterday heading. Those synced today or moments ago ought to show up under the Today heading, but nothing ever shows there. To be clear, the recently synced files do not show up under Yesterday, either. This seems like a bug. Because dropbox sometimes takes time to get around to syncing on the desktop, I need to be able to check if it recently synced any files. This behavior of never displaying recently synced files in the Your Activity list is disappointing. The image was captured mid-day, less than 10 minutes after syncing a dozen files. Note that Yesterday heading shows files underneath. The Today heading shows none of the files just synced.93Views0likes11CommentsEnable create and rename folders/files on MacOS Dropbox application for admin users
After a recent dropbox update, at the top level, admin users are unable to create and rename files on their desktop dropbox application for Mac users (OS version: Sequoia 15.3.2). This slight change has made it more of a hassle to use the desktop app, it makes it appear obsolete to be honest. My team needs a number of folders to created frequently as we get new cases quite frequently. After the new update, as the admin user, I have to navigate to my web browser in order to create a folder and then come back to my desktop app to add all the relevant documents into that folder. If I make a mistake in the name of the folder, I can't change the name of the folder I have to go back to web browser, find the folder and then change it from there. It is such that even as an admin user on my computer, when I go to unlock the folder at the top level to give me read and write access, it automatically switches back as it is something that has been enabled from the software and not the user end. I could see the justification for having this restriction for non-admin users but for admin users whose job description requires the creation and modification of top level files, it has added an additional step in work flow that is cumbersome. In the past, all these could be done directly from the desktop app. I would like to request that the feature be put back as it was. The new change is not user friendly at all.63Views2likes4CommentsOrange/Brown file box icon appearing on my Camera Uploads
And I cannot then open the images. This has just started happening as I cannot attach any Dropbox files to my emails when required. This has never happened before. The last thread that discusses this issue is 4 years old and not sure it is still applicable. Hoping its something simple I can rectify. I have used Google photos for as long as I have had Dropbox.11Views0likes1CommentLe menu dropbox ne s'affiche pas dans le menu contextuel
Merci59Views0likes5CommentsHow to set all directories in Dropbox with a given name/regex to be ignored.
I would like to not sync, i.e. ignore all folders with the name .venv. How can I do this? This method then I would also like to apply to node_modules directories. PS: I know that I can ignore a folder on a specific full path. But as soon as I create a new Python project the new .venv folder is synced (or in a node project the node_modules folder). This can causes quite a bit havoc. So we need a rule-base ignore system for this.Solved31Views0likes2Comments
