Issue with Dropbox Folder Renaming Not Syncing to Cloud
Hello, I’m having an issue with Dropbox. I’ve renamed several folders on my local machine to make them easier to manage, but the folder names in the Dropbox cloud still reflect the old names. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Dropbox desktop app, but the cloud folder names remain unchanged. Could you please help me force Dropbox to update the folder names in the cloud to match the renamed folders on my computer? Thank you!
How can I see all files in Windows explorer without having to download all content first?
I am using desktop application on windows 10 and have Dropbox Family plan So far I have seen that I had to download all my content, then right click on it to make it offline to see the file and folder listing How can i see all the files and folders in windows explorer without having to download all content first.
Support online-only files for ARM (Snapdragon) processors
We are currently unable to use Dropbox on Windows Surface Pro Devices with Snapdragon Processors as they do not allow for Online-Only files. This causes the entirety of their files to sync to the device and renders the device unusable as all disk space is consumed.
"1 file is unable to sync" error on sync status but "See Issues" option shows nothing.
Hi everyone, I could use some help on this Dropbox pushed out an update to our user environment and it broke our integration and we are slowly starting to fix it. I have a user that has a file that will not sync. When i click the option to see what file is not syncing, it is blank. I cannot locate this file anywhere. I stopped the sync for an hour to let indexing catch up and restarted the sync. No luck We also uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox (completely removing the folders and profile from before) ran chkdsk Signed out, rebooted and signed back in verified there is no firewall or antivirus restrictions Stopped and restarted the dropbox services we are on version 199.4.6287
The app prompts me to sign-in and create a new Dropbox folder.
3 weeks ago for some unknown reason Dropbox seems to have me signed out of the account and gave me a message to sign-in. I have signed in and Dropbox said that it needs to sync files and told me select a folder. Existing C:/Dropbox could not be used for some reason. I chose a new location, took awhile but the files were finally on my PC HD. Today the same happened: Dropbox local folder folder shows files but they cannot be opened for "unspecified error" and it tells that I have sign-in again and again choose a new location for the folder. Is there a fix to this?
Last date Dropbox desktop app will function on Windows 7
I receive messages in the Dropbox notification list saying, "Dropbox functionality on Windows 7 will end May 2025." What is the exact date on which that will happen? If I upgrade to Windows 10 before that date, will I need to reinstall or otherwise reconfigure Dropbox for it to work on Windows 10?Will Dropbox ever allow syncing arbitrary directories?
I have been a long time free user of Dropbox. The free plan was enough for an occasional share. But I have a huge photo archive as a photographer, and I also scanned all the family photos and digitized all the VHS and film videos. I have a backup of everything on at least 5 different physical storage media. I am thinking about syncing to cloud as well, and becoming a paying Dropbox user seemed like a good idea. But the problem is, that my photo archive is the most important thing on my computer, it needs to be the most accessible and visible folder and I require it to be on root of the biggest disk. I would want this directory, named "Photo" to be synced to Dropbox. I do NOT want to, and WILL NOT move it to Dropbox directory, just in order to be synced. The photo archive is too important and I don't want to hide or obscure it, by moving into some completely non-related directory. I am reading that Dropbox does not support syncing arbitrary folders, except the Dropbox directories and some completely useless folders, like "My Documents" (which I've never used, as I have a better organization of my files, but other apps put garbage into this folder). So, will Dropbox ever support this? I am really considering to become a paying user, but without this, it's useless.Secure and hidden files
It would be a great idea to implement an extra layer of protection to be able to hide certain files or be able to lock them with a set password within the app since I experience multiple users on multiple machines of mine being able to access most of the files. Therefor I would really benefit from a folder I can lock with my personal password and therefor hide sensitive information or files that should not be accessed by other users but me. I would suggest calling it something like Vault or Hidden Files. This could also be done via integration through the apps, let people decide if they want to install the vault feature or not.
