Storage space
2006 TopicsStorage alert says I'm about to stop syncing but I have enough space
Hi there I recently cancelled my paid plan as I've switched to another storage option that serves me just fine. Over the years I gained more Dropbox storage through referrals etc, so my total storage is showing 10.13GB since I cancelled my plan. Plenty for my needs as all that is on Dropbox is a shared folder managed by a colleague. However, I'm now getting alerts in the app that I'm almost out of storage and that even 'one more file' might break everything. Is this just marketing hype or something I need to be concerned about? The latest alert is an email that says: Notice: Your files are about to stop syncing, **** Here's access to up to 3 TB (3,000 GB) of space. There's limited space available in your Dropbox. Even adding just one more file might stop your account from syncing and being able to access them when you need to Yet when I go into my account settings on the top right of the Dropbox web app it confirms that I have 10.13GB. The shared folder takes about 8GB so I comfortably have space to spare. So do I just have to put up with annoying emails from Dropbox pushing me back onto paid plans now that I'm back to a free plan, or is there a danger of any consequences? Thanks! My hard drive is full so I set all files to online only. How do I get the files off my local hard drive to open up storage on my hard drive? As is try to follow instructions on the help pages my Dropbox app doesn't show my avatar in the upper right corner, so I don't see Preferences. I have right clicked on the Dropbox in file explored and clicked on "manager hard dive space" to put all files to "online only" but the disk drive space doesn't free up.47Views0likes11CommentsIf I upgrade and later on downgrade, do I keep my referral space?
I was thinking of upgrading to Dropbox Plus. 2TB seems like a good amount of space! However, if the price goes up a lot, would I then be able to downgrade back to basic and keep my referral space? I have 8GB built up over the years and I assume I'd lose that.15Views0likes3CommentsMy Dropbox account is empty, but it says I'm over the storage limit.
Folks, I keep getting a message that I'm over my account limit. However, when I go to the account, there's no files or folders to be seen. Not sure what to do at this point. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Thanks Kevin O11Views0likes3CommentsWhy is my account showing up as full?
I am continuing to get emails from Dropbox stating that I am over my storage capacity. However, when I go to the account, I don't have anything in any of the folders. Please advise as to how I can confirm that I don't have any documents, pictures, etc., so that I can delete this account. Recently I went back to Dropbox having read that it now works with Snapdragon Windows versions, but currently I have a significant issue. I cannot have any online-only file in my SP11, thus I cannot have all Dropbox files in my device. I have this in the main DP screen: Then I go to "Manage hard disk space", select folders and make online-only. In less than a second I get the message they are online-only, but they aren't. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance.529Views2likes21CommentsI sent a referral to one of my students, but it's once again ineligible.
Sorry to have to raise a similar issue again. As promised, I am continuing to recommend Dropbox to my students and their parents, and now sending the referrals via my Referrals page. Today I recommended Dropbox to one of my students, while he was here with his laptop, so I could see and make sure that everything was done right. He had never installed or used Dropbox before. He clicked on my referral link and successfully installed the App. He tried to verify his account, but received an error message, saying that ''Something went wrong." My Referrals page shows his status as "Ineligible." I would be grateful if you could track down what went wrong this time and let me know? I am happy to forward a capture of the emails and error message... Thank you.35Views0likes5CommentsThe referral I sent to my friend has been marked as ineligible.
Hi everyone, I'm still encountering an issue with a Dropbox friend referral where I'm trying to earn the 500MB bonus storage. I sent the invitation back in 2016. The referral was marked as "ineligible," and I initially considered it might be due to shared computer access, but I can now confirm that the friend I invited did not install or log in to Dropbox on the same computer I used to send the invitation. Given this new information, I'm trying to understand why the referral might still be ineligible. Here are my updated questions: 1. Could the age of the invitation (sent in 2016) be a factor in the referral's ineligibility now? Are there expiration dates or limitations on older referral links? 2. What are the specific steps a referred friend needs to take to ensure the referral is successful and I receive the 500MB bonus under the current program? 3. If the issue isn't related to a shared computer, what are some other common reasons for referral ineligibility that I should consider? 4. Is it possible that the referral program terms or the bonus amount offered in 2016 were different and are no longer valid? 5. Should I try sending a new referral invitation to the same friend now? Would that have a better chance of being successful under the current program? Any insights into how the referral program has evolved since 2016 or common pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated. As a Basic user, direct email support options seem limited, so I'm hoping the community can offer some guidance. Thanks in advance for your help!84Views0likes7Comments
