Shared Links
1032 TopicsIs it necessary to have to verify identity when accessing a shared folder through a link?
I shared a folder to "anyone with the link". When someone tries to access it from a new browser (never signed in to Dropbox before) they are always hit with a message to verify identity. Is there no way around this message so they can just get to the folder? Attaching screenshot. Thanks, Christi86Views0likes11CommentsShared links stopped working. We’ve interrupted your sharing activity.
Hi guys, All shared links stopped working all of a sudden. These shared links worked nicely for a long time. I am on the Basic plan, so I can't contact Dropbox support. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would let me know how to fix this. Thanks!44Views0likes5CommentsBanned for sharing, but I'm not sharing any files.
I received an email stating that I’ve been banned for sharing files over 20GB/MB, but I don’t have any files currently being shared and can’t identify which files the message is referring to. I checked the forums and noticed that others are experiencing similar issues. Recently, I downloaded a file via a Dropbox link that was shared on Patreon. The file wasn't mine, and I only accessed it through my web browser; it wasn't added directly to my Dropbox account. Shortly after clicking the link, I received the email regarding the violation. Could this be a bug? I’ve downloaded shared links from others in the past without any problems and have never received a warning like this before. Can't contact support if there no way to contact them an as well as get ding by downloading it from a link now does this to us?117Views0likes16CommentsI want to share PDFs from my Dropbox for others to preview
I want to use the URLs of some PDFs held in a Dropbox folder to load them in a Google sheet. My hope is that when a member of the Dropbox business team clicks it, it will open in preview mode in the browser. If I copy the link address, this is not the address of the individual file I right-clicked - it only loads the whole folder address, not the individual files within it. How do I derive a url for the individual PDF so it can be previewed? thanks for any help! James37Views0likes2CommentsNewly made embedded mp3s won't play, they are grayed out.
I have a website where I share recordings of my piano playing with family/friends. I use blogspot to link to the audio files that are in a public folder on Dropbox. I have used the same html for 12 years, but suddenly the copied links from Dropbox won't work embedded - the controls are greyed out. I've spent 2 hrs trouble shooting. The old links still work. But the new links won't. I've tried different browsers, my phone, etc. I can't figure it out. I would be so grateful if anyone could help me. my website is: [link removed as per Community Guidelines] this a link directly to the audio file: [removed as per Community Guidelines] If you try the newest entry posted today you can see the one that doesn't work. Try any other one and it will.Solved46Views0likes7CommentsHow to Workaround "Zip File is Too Large" Error
I'm sharing a multitude of large files with colleagues via a Dropbox link that are nearly 120GB in size. However, they're telling me Dropbox doesn't allow them to download it due to an error saying the "zip file is too large". Confused, I tried the link on an incognito browser to see for myself, and I see the error too. Why is there a download file size limitation? My colleagues don't have Dropbox accounts of their own to transfer these files to (and I doubt they'd be willing to to make paid accounts to do it), and I'm not giving my account login info to them (as a few threads on this issue suggested) to be able to download it via the Desktop app. I saw in a thread made a few years ago that Dropbox is easily capable of raising the file size download limit. They did it some months after someone complained about there being a 1 Gigabyte download size limit. Why don't they raise the download size limit much higher? (Or better yet, not have a limit at all?) I'm a paying customer, and the very reason I subscribed to Dropbox in the first place was to have a cloud service to store and share large files with people. If I wanted to deal with sharing smaller file sizes, I wouldn't even be paying for Dropbox's 2TB plan to begin with. I'd be using the Dropbox free version, or sites like Google Drive.Solved29KViews6likes9CommentsRemove "Log in or sign up" Popup when downloading from a shared link
We recently chose Dropbox as the best-looking and most functional drive-sharing tool for our video production company. However, there's an annoying popup prompting clients to log in or sign up when we share links. The "Continue with download only" button is easily missed, especially by older clients, making us look unprofessional. It's frustrating that such a customizable platform has this issue. We hope for a solution soon!4.7KViews7likes33CommentsHow can I make sure that my shared link recipients can't see each other?
Very simple dropbox user. upload blueprints, copy link, email to vendors. Now all my vendors can see eachother and thats not good. Also it is making my invitees request my permission to access the folders. All im doing is creating folder, copying that link and emailing it to my vendors. What changed and why can they see eachother now. im not paying for a stupid account so i can call customer service.27Views0likes3CommentsShared link to folder from Quickbase channel takes me to empty folder
I am using the Quickbase Dropbox channel to create a folder and upload files to that folder. I then get the Share URL using the Quickbase Dropbox channel and save it in a Quickbase table. I can see the folder and its files when I log into my Dropbox account. But when I use the Share URL in my browser, I get a screen showing the folder name but that it is empty. I need to see the files also.Solved57Views0likes4Comments
