Banned for "excessive traffic"
I can't believe there's no way to ask for support, but here we are. I've been using Dropbox for about 15 years and over the past 5 years, use the public links feature to share small files with my music production colleagues. 5mb or so per file. Today, for some reason, I got an email that I'm causing "excessive traffic" and was emailed a link to get "unbanned". I did it twice but now it says I can't get unbanned. I run my music production company through this service so I'm pretty miffed. Any ideas?
Give us the option to export the email addresses of shared files' members to a .csv file.
I previously mentioned this to your support team on X, but I wanted to suggest it again having the ability to export the email addresses of users who can view or edit shared files as a .csv file or similar format would be extremely useful.
How can I share a file with view access?
We use Dropbox for our weekly schedules. When I open a schedule (file), it opens in view mode. When my new employee opens a file, it opens in edit mode. This is dangerous because it's an excel doc and if she's accidentally in a cell and types anything, the previous information is erased. If I want to edit, from viewing the file I can click on the "open in" drop-down and choose "Excel for web", then edit and save & close. I want her to be able to open for viewing like I do with the option to open in excel for web. I've looked for help on this issue and the only response online is a quick view option . This will change settings for opening a viewing sidebar (which NONE of us want) or full screen. I've changed her settings to quick view full screen but it still opens in edit mode. Help???
Remove External User(s) Delete Ability
PLEASE allow us to restrict the ability of external users to delete files and folders in a shared folder. I just ran into an issue where a user, that had edit permission, deleted all of the files and folders in a shared folder. Allow us to restrict the ability to delete by users. Or change the view permission to upload files and folders. This seems so easy to do, yet it doesn't happen. If I'm missing a setting, please enlighten me. Thank you.
Dropbox public links have been suspended for generating excessive traffic. Now what?
I have tried to download a large file shared with me from a client a number of times and every time it is about to finish the folder gets corrupted and I get a suspension from Dropbox? Why is this happening? I am not the owner of the files I am trying to download, and I am pretty sure the owner of the files pays for the service, so why is this happening?
How can I prevent team members from sharing or downloading the data to use them as their own?
I am planning to start a work account with Dropbox, but my profession revolves around highly valuable data. My main concern is whether other users with access to the shared Dropbox account can download files without permission. If they do, they could potentially use the downloaded data to run their own business and generate revenue, which would be a serious issue. Is there a solution to prevent unauthorized downloads or ensure better control over shared data? I would appreciate any guidance on this.
Open dropbox file/folder links open on desktop
Hi there. Love Dropbox. I moved our whole team to it from Google Drive much to all of our delight. The one hiccup that keeps coming up (was also an issue with Drive, but would be a game changing new feature from DB) is sharing links. Our team uses the desktop app to work with files directly in finder, but we share links to files and folders on slack and in email, etc... Right now we click a link, it opens the browser as expected, we find the file path in browser and then follow that path in finder. That seems like an awful lot of work when we have a direct connection between our finder and dropbox in the app. Perhaps the website could provide a link that connects to the desktop app, opening the folder/file in finder or windows explorer. Seems like a reasonable option to me, but what do others think?The option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing.
Just like others have shared, the option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing. I needed to upload some large files to an organization's dropbox, which is owned by the organization. I am not the owner of any of the individual files or folders yet I still can't remove myself. I also am technically out of space so I can't add the last file I need to for this folder -_-... I am thinking if I can remove myself and then re-add it, I can add that last file and be done with it. I don't need access to it regularly, the whole point is transferring these files to this organization.If I move a shared document, will it also get moved for the owner?
A co-worker shared a doc with me. I'm using dropbox on the web. When I'm editing this doc I have an option in my sidebar that reads "Give this doc a home" with a "Move to Folder" button under it. I'm not very familiar with dropbox and I don't want to do anything that is going to relocate the document from the perspective of the guy who shared it. Yeah I know that's unlikely but I can't take the chance and I can't find any information on this anywhere. Can someone confirm that this will only alter the location of the document in my own folder structure and will not in any way alter the location from the perspective of the owner? Thanks in advance,
