Banned for sharing, but I'm not sharing any files.
I received an email stating that I’ve been banned for sharing files over 20GB/MB, but I don’t have any files currently being shared and can’t identify which files the message is referring to. I checked the forums and noticed that others are experiencing similar issues. Recently, I downloaded a file via a Dropbox link that was shared on Patreon. The file wasn't mine, and I only accessed it through my web browser; it wasn't added directly to my Dropbox account. Shortly after clicking the link, I received the email regarding the violation. Could this be a bug? I’ve downloaded shared links from others in the past without any problems and have never received a warning like this before. Can't contact support if there no way to contact them an as well as get ding by downloading it from a link now does this to us?
I need to remove some members from my shared folders, but I don't seem to be the owner.
I have discontinued a business relationship with a few people and would now like to unshare some of my folders in Dropbox. However, I don't seem to be able to do that, and what's worse, one of the ex-associates seems to be the OWNER of a folder in my account! How do I fix this? I want to use the URLs of some PDFs held in a Dropbox folder to load them in a Google sheet. My hope is that when a member of the Dropbox business team clicks it, it will open in preview mode in the browser. If I copy the link address, this is not the address of the individual file I right-clicked - it only loads the whole folder address, not the individual files within it. How do I derive a url for the individual PDF so it can be previewed? thanks for any help! James
The Dropbox right-click options are gone from my Mac's Finder.
I recently changed the location of my Dropbox folder and now I no longer have my right-click menu. Dropbox is running and everything has been synced. I've restarted and reinstalled dropbox and it did not fix my issue. Latest version of Dropbox: 221.4.5365 MacOS: 15.4
Better user experience for previewing shared videos
I don't use Dropbox very often because of the following problem. I mainly use it to share videos with my friends and I would really like the video to appear in a nice simple window when they play it. Unfortunately the visitor sees a lot of unnecessary text in the window which is just a distraction. With all respect it appears the window was created by engineers who are not concerned about appearance. My visitors already know who sent them the link, and I don't like the window having intrusive sharing options and text promoting the app. I think Dropbox should offer a version that is crafted with a simple appearance so the focus is on the content. I would be happy to pay extra for this option. It could be called "Dropbox pure" or "Dropbox clarity" or "Dropbox presentation" or something. As it is, Dropbox is a last resort for me because of all the clutter. Perhaps there is a cloud storage solution out there that is esthetically pleasing for the viewer, but I have not found one.
Is it necessary to have to verify identity when accessing a shared folder through a link?
I shared a folder to "anyone with the link". When someone tries to access it from a new browser (never signed in to Dropbox before) they are always hit with a message to verify identity. Is there no way around this message so they can just get to the folder? Attaching screenshot. Thanks, Christi
Shared links stopped working. We’ve interrupted your sharing activity.
Hi guys, All shared links stopped working all of a sudden. These shared links worked nicely for a long time. I am on the Basic plan, so I can't contact Dropbox support. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would let me know how to fix this. Thanks!Bring back File Request option in File Explorer.
I used to be able to initiate a "Request Files" by right clicking on the file I wanted the documents to go into. This is more efficient that having to go to the web version, as I 99.9% work out of the File Explorer on my PC. Please bring back the option to "Request Files" in the right click menu.
