3053 TopicsQuestions on how to share photos and videos with others
I made this account ONLY to get some real help. I had a few questions before making an account & used the Contact Sales link on DropBox's webpage. I received a canned response with links that did not help. When I tried to reply, all I received was a bounce back. So here is my question: I have a few pictures & videos I took with my phone that I want to share with family & friends. I usually move pictures & videos to my computer so I can folder, edit & rename them. So the sharing will be done from my computer most of the time. Will DropBox work with my recommendations below: 1. I don't want to automatically sync anything from the start. If everything goes well, I might in the future. 2. I don't want the pictures & videos to be compressed. Original sizes are always better! 3. I want to be able to select who can see & download the pictures & videos. 4. I'd like to have multiple folders of different pictures & videos for different groups- Example: a folder of pictures & videos for group A, a different folder for group B, etc. 5. I want to be able to add & delete pictures & videos when needed/wanted. 6. Can I find out when someone looked at/downloaded the pictures & videos? The canned response with links only mention working with Teams & Co-Workers. I just want to use this for personal use, free-basic account, nothing more.20Views0likes4CommentsI can't access files shared with me by others via links
I have my own dropbox but independently, for work things, I been given access to files and folders in various other people's dropboxes recently but for some reason I get an error msg and can't access them. These are open files to everyone and it is not just one time / company - it's happening with courses I have paid for, with press media files that are available just generally, people who send me general links to files - I always get this error: Error Something went wrong. Don’t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check ourStatus Pageto see if there is a known incident, ourhelp centreandforumsfor help, or go back tohome. I have checked the installer, checked my own dropbox syncs etc. My own files are fine and so I can't see the issue. It has happened without about 5 different companies giving me access - that I can't see the files - which are open to the general public if you have been sent the link. What can I do?76Views0likes4CommentsLimiting access to shared folders/files for view/download only
When a person who is requesting access to a file/folder through Dropbox, you need to enable the person who is approving the access request to be able to limit that access to view/download only. Now approvals include edit capability which is not necessarily what the owner of the folder wants to do. The person requesting access may not know the difference between edit access and view/download access. This is particularly important when an owner of a folder of pictures wants to share those pictures but does not want give other's the ability to remove photos from the folder and only wants others to be able to view the pictures and download what they want without removing the picture from the folder. Please email me if further clarification is needed. Regards, Ron31Views1like2CommentsFlag file/folder for another team member
Collaboration feature, right click and select flag, dialogue allows you to select a team member or whole team, team members receive notification with clickable link to display the target *on their file system*, regardless of the OS platform they are using. Its currently impossible to share a file/folder location to another team member, sharing links go to the website with no way of jumping to the same location locally on their computer, and alias don’t work across platforms. Users are sending screenshots of file systems at each other or abbreviated path notes that are often incorrect. Alt implementation: if the target of a sharing link already exists in a recipients Dropbox add a ‘show in file system’ link to the email, alongside the link to Dropbox.com, or don’t even bother with the email and instead just notify with the link.139Views0likes2CommentsShared link bandwidth monitor for Dropbox users to prevent breaking bandwidth limits

This solution sends customizable alerts when bandwidth consumption reaches critical thresholds (e.g., 75%, 90%) and provides detailed daily or weekly reports. This way, users can proactively manage their service usage, ensuring continuous access without interruptions due to exceeding the bandwidth limit.110Views0likes2CommentsReplace thumbnail on a video upload
Hello, I am uploading demo videos to share with clients. The thumbnail / static image on each video is random and is not taking the first image (which is a title card). I am getting awkward shots of our speakers in the still images, and they are not the most attractive thumbnails to share with clients. Is there any way to choose what screen the thumbnail comes from and/or replace this image? Thank you!4KViews4likes9CommentsShared link asks viewers to request access. Why does this happen?
Greetings. I have a shared file set to be viewable by anyone with the link, and I've sent the link to those I want to view the file (see screenshot). However, when they access the link, Dropbox states they "do not have access to this file" and offers the option to request access, which I must individually approve. I have other files configured with these same settings, and those with whom I've shared those links can access them without any separate approval. I don't know why this particular file is different. Am I missing something?Solved16KViews3likes66CommentsUX feedback about "Join Folder" button when clicking on a shared link
As I share links (created via OS folder view) to customers, i have had several of them clicking "Join Folder" as they think that is the priority way of dealing with the link they received. My purpose has been to share a link that multiple users can access - if I have the need to give full read/write access to a user (aka "join folder") - I would give that permission in the first place. This leads to two questions: 1) Why is the "Join Folder" -button so highlighted when user enters via normal link, instead of it being either "copy to dropbox" or "download"? (buttons shown to users could be filtered based on the link user uses to access the folder). 2) Would the "Join Folder" button be even needed IF the link shared is created with a method "who ever has this link can read the files and copy them"? This leads to a conclusion, that maybe Dropbox should filter the buttons out based on the link user uses to access the folder. Why this error happens on a user: To me understanding, it happens because a) the button is highlighted blue and they just click it by heart without reading what the buttons actually state, or 2) they do not understand what "join folder" means - as it really does not indicate in any way, that user is actually requesting full read/write access to a folder, 3) or both reasons -> they do not understand the button text and believe it is the right one as it is highlighted. If the button must exist, I would 1) change the button order and put it to be the last option, 2) rename it to (something like): - Request Ownership - Full Access - Authorize Now it just reminds too much of "joining the folder to see the files".2.1KViews2likes13CommentsSend & Track feature: Automatic link disable after a set number of downloads
A new Send and Track feature of an automatic 'Link Deactivation' upon completion of a predetermined number of downloads (example: 1-10 downloads). The number of downloads would be predetermined by the account member at the time of link creation and could be modified at any time by member.16Views0likes2Comments
