Hi there, I absolutely hate the feature "Suggested from your activity". I would like to see a checkbox in settings that allows a user to disable that permanently and have the cleanest possible view of file(lists) and folders. The "Suggested from your activity" feature always shows my family photos or, like today, a preview of my tax form. Whenever I open dropbox in the office to browse my files, all my work colleges can see these previews too. The icon that hides it, is only remembering the setting as long as one does not delete cookies from the browser. At our company, it is policy to delete cookies every day at the end of the day. So this "hiding" setting is pretty useless for me. More over, please make it possible to have a clean, minimalistic UI without all the fluff, super big blue buttons and "easy access" helpers. Some people don't need it. It is distracting and disturbing.25KViews78likes39CommentsHow can I share a file with view access?
We use Dropbox for our weekly schedules. When I open a schedule (file), it opens in view mode. When my new employee opens a file, it opens in edit mode. This is dangerous because it's an excel doc and if she's accidentally in a cell and types anything, the previous information is erased. If I want to edit, from viewing the file I can click on the "open in" drop-down and choose "Excel for web", then edit and save & close. I want her to be able to open for viewing like I do with the option to open in excel for web. I've looked for help on this issue and the only response online is a quick view option . This will change settings for opening a viewing sidebar (which NONE of us want) or full screen. I've changed her settings to quick view full screen but it still opens in edit mode. Help???26Views0likes1CommentCan I get the actual creation date of the file, and not just the upload date?
I am not understanding how I can find out details on when a file was created. For example I have uploaded 714 PDF files today to a Folder PDF_11_10. When I look at the folder ALL the files show a modified date of today. Is there a way to get the actual creation date of each file and NOT just upload date. I have followed the instructions for 'file info' on Metadata but no luck. I would appreciate any solutions. Running on WIN11 with Dropbox PRO. Thanks, VicSolved514Views1like12CommentsThe previews of my camera uploads photos appear smaller on the Windows desktop app.
Hi, Normally when I browse through my camera uploads on my PC, I can see the pictures on the right side of the screen when I push "Example". These pictures are large. Now however I do not see anything at the most of the pictures, and small pictures on others. Dropbox is set to sync pictures so that they are available off line. Can anyoune help solve this? One of my team members updated to a new computer and now she cannot see any previews for photos that are online only. It is important for our workflow to see the image previews online only becausee we work with thousands of images in our catalogs. I am on an older Mac but both of us are on the same OS (15.3) and I can see previews no problem. Contacted DB support and they did not fix the issue. Tried a "hard reinstall" as supposed by DB support but did not work. They are not offering any other help which is very disappointing considering how many licenses we pay for. Anyone else able to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for your help!126Views0likes8CommentsPreserve file Creation Dates(and other metadata) in mobile app versions
The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who donât use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I canât even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. Thereâs no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps⊠ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates⊠and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the filesâ metadata remains intact.6KViews21likes24CommentsCan't use Quicklook or see thumbnail previews for online-only files.
It has been several years since I was able to quicklook a file or see its thumbnail preview. I've had multiple different macs in that timespan. Is this just how it is now or is there a setting I need to fix? Thanks, Jamie PS. I use Dropbox Teams.47Views0likes2CommentsFile previews not visible in preview pane on Windows when using Dropbox.
File previews have stopped working for me in the preview pane (using Windows 10). This issue only persists with files in my Dropbox folder, and it affects all kinds of different file types, including JPGs, PNGs, MP4s, Cinema 4D files, etc. If I uninstall Dropbox, the file previews work correctly again. Then once I reinstall Dropbox, the issue returns. I am not using "online only" mode - all files are stored locally on my hard drive. I don't understand why this is happening, and it's quite annoying. Does anyone have any solution for this?62Views0likes2Comments
