Can the issue come from re-linking a previously unlinked mac device? I renamed old Dropbox folder in this mac to backup_dropbox to avoid interferences and deleted all local files but in both Macs files keep syncing for ever...13Views0likes1CommentHow to sync my files locally on my Mac, after they've been syncing as online-only?
I have a m1 mac and longstanding free dropbox account and noticed almost all my local files were gone. It looks to me like some update to the desktop app seemingly turned on selective sync (ugh) and now all my files are online only. I'd like to set it back to local files present 'and' synched to online as it has been for many years. I found and (re)set the sync=>default sync state for new files to 'available offline' but do not see a way to tell it to catch up that setting for existing files already moved online-only. There is no 'sync back the other way FROM dropbox' option that I can tell. Again, I want local copies of everything, and online copies sync'd copies of those. I am very reluctant to try SelectiveSync unselect all -> update -> select all -> update or something like that. I also don't want to use the 'download' option to grab a second copy of many GB of data. I just want the app to resync and get local copies again like I had it from the earliest days of dropbox even existing. How do I do that without risking losing my data ? Right now I think I'm in a position where a dropbox server disk crash loses everything. That would be bad.Solved36Views0likes6CommentsMove Dropbox folder from local to external disk on Mac
MacOS - I have the Finder integration whereby I have a "Dropbox" as one of my Favorite locations. All my files are fully backed up, Online Only. If I mark any file for offline access, it downloads to my local (internal) disk. I would like to have all my files kept locally for offline access stored on my external disk (USB attached SSD). I would then enable sync to keep both copies in sync (online and offline). How do I go about moving the file pointers/links (I'm assuming that's what they are) on my system so that the Dropbox "favorite" in the finder will direct to the external disk and not the local one?Solved47Views0likes5CommentsHow can I sync the files I see on the browser with my Mac desktop app?
How can I sync files that are on Dropbox and viewable in a browser with a new Mac Mini running the latest Mac OS and latest Dropbox desktop app? If I try to download the files it comes up with a conflict message. I’m sure it used to be possible to just select what you wanted synced at it would do it, but not with the latest version.27Views0likes1CommentSelective Sync ('Do not upload' option) disappeared from Finder on Mac 14.7.1
So I've been using this option a ton before, like, when you work with a super large files and you don't need to upload them all while working on them, so there was on option in context menu "dont sync to dropbox" in finder, now it dissapeared? Is this bug or permanent now? Im on MACOS 14.7.1 and Dropbox v214.4.521741Views0likes1CommentCorrupted MP4 files when downloading via Dropbox links on MacOS.
Hello, I’ve been facing a persistent and frustrating issue when downloading single files via Dropbox links. Here’s the problem: Whenever I download a single file, it always ends up corrupted. I can’t open the file with QuickTime or VLC, and I can’t even import it into Premiere Pro for editing. The file downloads completely without any errors, but once downloaded, it’s unusable. As a workaround, I’ve found that downloading the entire folder as a .ZIP file prevents corruption. However, this is not practical for me—I often only need to download a single file from the folder, and I want it to work without issues. Sent images below of the problems. Some additional details: I use Dropbox exclusively through a web browser (not the app). I don’t have any paid subscription. I primarily use Dropbox because my clients share videos with me through this platform. Aside from the corruption issue, I’ve also noticed that Dropbox download speeds are incredibly slow for me, which makes the situation even more frustrating. And NO, i dont want to use the Dropbox APP. But if its the only way yo get it to fix, i can try it. I really need to understand why these single-file downloads are always corrupted and find a solution to this problem. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.34Views0likes3CommentsWe can't add 'Dropbox for Teams' as a storage account for Office 365 on a Mac.
Hello, We have just moved all of our team's Mac devices to 'File Provider' to enable co-authoring, and there's only one Mac device that doesn't have the option to add 'Dropbox for Teams' as a storage account in Microsoft Office. We have - Updated to the latest version of Microsoft Office (Version 16.92) Updated to the latest version of Dropbox (v214.4.5217) Have moved Dropbox over to File Provider (Sync setting says "You are on the latest version of Dropbox for MacOS on File Provider") Checked that we are running macOS Sonoma Version 14.7.2. Why can't we see 'Dropbox for Teams' when we go to Microsoft Word > Open > Manage Storage Accounts? The only options under 'Add Storage Account' are OneDrive, OneDrive for Business and SharePoint. Thanks. AKSolved62Views0likes4CommentsOn Mac Sequoia, my Finder does not find Dropbox files.
Hi everyone! On my Mac I have a Dropbox folder which is automatically synchronized with my Dropbox online. I move may files from my Mac into that folder. I see the files in my Mac's Dropbox folder, and I know they are also in Dropbox in the cloud. The problem is that when I search in the Mac's finder, I cannot find the files. I can find them when I search via the menu bar app icon and find the files that way, but it's not convenient, I have to then select "show in finder". Before I could search in the finder directly for the files and the Finder would find the files in the Dropbox folder. What has changed? Why can't my Finder find files which are in my Mac's Dropbox folder?55Views0likes3CommentsCan I access my external drive backup from my laptop?
I've been using Dropbox to sync my desktop and laptop computers for years, but recently my storage needs have outgrown my 1 TB desktop. I purchased a couple external hard drives and shifted some folders onto them, and while Dropbox says I can backup my internal and external hard drives I have not been able to access the externals on Dropbox from my laptop. I hope that's clear. My question is - when I include my external hard drives in my Dropbox backup is it possible to access those backups remotely on my laptop?47Views0likes1Comment
