Shared Folders
835 TopicsShared folder is taking up space in my personal Dropbox account.
I am doing short term work for a client (1 month) and they have shared a folder with me that I will need to access and edit via dropbox, which I do not use for my business. I created a free account, and when attempting to access the folder, it prompts me to upgrade my account due to storage. Though, I am not the folder owner, and do not need any storage whatsoever, as I use a better cloud storage, why would I need to pay for a membership to do short term edits to a clients documents. Again, I DO NOT NEED STORAGE, I AM ONLY VIEWING AND MAKING EDITS.3Views0likes1CommentSender receives an email notification when and with who they share a folder with!
Whenever the owner shares a folder/ file in dropbox they should receive a delivery notification that the folder/ file has been shared with the receiver detailing the date/ time/ receiver details (name and account/ email), similar to the one a receiver gets from dropbox portal that a file/ folder has been shared by xxxx dropbox account. We all make mistakes or sometimes it could be some glitch in the devices, a folder is shared accidently and as you do not receive any notifications so such detail can easily be missed as the sender is oblivious of the activity/ mistake and it can go unnoticed. When the receiver accepts and joins the folder than its easy to check who has access but in cases where the receiver accepts and immediately removes themselves in that case its practically impossible to track if the shared folder was ever accessed by the receiver. This also can be deemed as a security concern, as the sender is completely oblivious of the shared folder status and there is no proof that the folder was actually shared with the receiver. The activity log and events page do reflect the sharing of the folder but do not provide details with who the folder/ file was shared. Hope this can be taken into consideration as can surely help track sharing of folders much better and secured. Thanks7Views0likes0CommentsFiles don't sync correctly. What can I do?
I’ve been using Dropbox to store and sync important media files for my Sellvia store, but recently, some files aren’t syncing properly across my devices. I’ve tried restarting the app and checking my internet connection, but the issue persists. Has anyone experienced this? Any fixes you’d recommend?43Views0likes5CommentsWho did I share my folder with?
Hi! I was hoping if someone can kindly help me find a way to check who I shared a folder with as I do not remember sharing it with anyone but it has the shared icon and is listed under the shared tab. It says that Only I have access to it. Thank you!58Views0likes13CommentsOpen links to files in shared folders directly in Finder instead of the site
Our company uses Dropbox Business, and teammates regularly send e-mailed links to files within the shared folders. Clicking them spawns the web browser which then prompts me to download a copy of the file instead of taking me to the file, which might be nested in a folder several layers deep, in the Dropbox app or Finder. So my request is to give users an option to open links to files that are already in the shared Dropbox folders using Finder, or at least the Dropbox desktop app.840Views2likes4CommentsI'm getting an error when trying to share a folder. What is happening?
Hi! So some time ago Dropbox “migrated” my paper docs and put everything into one huge pile. Moreover, I used a system of folders with my writing partner — we're working on a book together, and everything pertaining to that book was stored inside a “folder”, probably not physical because everything was in the cloud. Now weird things happen. If I try and search my book documents from my Dropbox account, I get nothing. If she sends me a link to one of those documents, yes I can see the document, and that it is shared with me, and that there's still a “book” folder. But if I want to find that folder on my Dropbox, I can't do that. And if I want to add a new Paper document there (like a new interview), there's no way to do that. It gets even weirder. She sent me her screenshots. When she makes a new document, there's an option under documents name that says “Add to folder”. Also, her address line in browser is paper.dropbox.com — but when I do that, that option says Paper Docs, when I click on it, it does nothing, and when I enter paper.dropbox.com it autoredirects me to dropbox.com/paper I'm stuck. We're both on latest macOs. Any ideas here?13Views0likes1CommentMake members invisible to others
Hello, I noticed that when a members access to my folders via your website, he can see all the other members' name on the upper right corner. I can also double click on their icon and send a mail to anybody! I don't want any member to get access to the other members. So, please add a feature to disable viewing all other members.2.4KViews3likes2CommentsDropbox Paper completely disappeared from new UI
I've been using Dropbox Paper since it first came out. I just noticed now the UI of Dropbox paper has been updated. However, now when I go to the Paper home, none of my papers show up. None. The entire page is empty. I did noticed that I now have a "migrated paper" folder in the main Dropbox UI. I can open this folder and access my old papers. However, why wouldn't my old paper be listed in the Paper UI? Another thing that's completely missing is shared paper folders. My partner and I have a shared paper folder. The shared folder was created by him and shared with me. I cannot find any reference to this paper folder in my Dropbox UI. Not the new Paper UI, not the main Dropbox UI. I tried to search for documents in this shared folder, and they showed up in the search result. When I click on the shared doc, Dropbox takes me to the OLD Dropbox Paper UI. What? Makes no sense! My partner's account doesn't seem to have migrated to the new Paper UI yet. When he logs into Dropbox paper he still sees the old UI. Is this ever going to get fixed? That's just insane product behavior. I'm a product designer in the enterprise world. Even in the darkest corners of enterprise product, we would never allow behavior like this. That would be a release blocker. What's going on Dropbox?40Views0likes4Comments
