56 TopicsCommercial use of audio streaming on Dropbox, are there any GDPR requirements?
Hello! I have 2 questions: I sell audiocourses in books and give the users access to the audiofile with a QR Code. After buying the book the user can scan the qr code with his phone and listen to the audios (the audio player directly starts). 1) Is it ok to use dropbox for this function? 2) Is there any data transfer happening from user side, if he access the audio? Does he needs to give permission regarding GDPR? Thank you for your kind support!15Views0likes1CommentHow to revert all files from "online-only" and save to local disk?
Awhile back I used SmartSync to free up disk space. I'm now trying to ensure all files are on the local disk rather than only online. Is there a way to accomplish this? One idea: under preferences in the Dropbox.com settings I found an option to drop the Dropbox file extension, which "allows Dropbox to store files as online-only to save hard drive space." When I toggle it on without saving, I'm told "The system extension will be uninstalled and you’ll be signed out of Dropbox on all devices within the hour. When you sign back in, you can choose what folders to download from Dropbox.com. You will no longer be able to make files online-only." My issue with this is I have 200k+ files perhaps half of which are online-only and Dropbox has limits of file transfer/bandwidth that might prevent me from downloading them all.Solved2.4KViews0likes7CommentsIssue restoring a backup from Dropbox down to my computer
Dear dropbox, This is my first time using this service, even though I have heard about it for a long time. My PC was recently compromised so I had to use some sort of online backup service, as I couldnt use normal Windows backup. So I backed up nearly 200gb of my essential folders such as dekstop downloads etc. Upon having a freshly installed Windows 11, I try now regain my files and put them back onto my device. But what am I met with? Absolute brain damage. 1. Why on earth is it so difficult and confusing, to simply DOWNLOAD THE FILES BACK TO THEIR RESPECTIVE FOLDERS, that they literally synced from. Why is it I try to restore my backup, and it tells me its going to create another bloody backup for what???? Then instead of downloading my files back to my local folders, it creates more backups, syncing for no reason like its under the influence of class A drugs, and is confusing my applications. For instance as I produce music, I used FL studio. Because of this amazing service, FL studio now has not [removed] Idea what files are what, in fact now im struggling to get the application to load, because of some stupid ass sync mark on the application. And if I DONT sync them they literally wont run. I click on the files and select "make available offline" repeatedly and nothing happens. As you can probably tell I'm close to losing it. Please can anyone give me advice as I simply just want to take my files FROM dropbox, BACK to my computer where they are "syncing" from, because apparently dropbox is incapable of such basic asks. - we've asked multiple agents over the years for a request to make a smoother experience for our clients... I want to share a link to a photo to a client to download, they don't want to sign up for a dropbox account or even know what dropbox is, they should not see an advertising screen to sign up or sign in to download a simple linked file (not a shared folder) - as a business customer, the client facing side should be able to be branded and feel like it's OUR business not dropbox, yes there's a logo, but that's it, the process for a client to simply view and download an image feels clunky and not client friendly We're hoping that as a business customer, we can stop forcing our clients to go through 2 screens and dropbox branding to download a file186Views0likes1CommentShared links returning old content!
Hi, I've used shared links forever, and I have many. I use Dropbox API to upload files to replace older files. Usually, the link which was structured like this: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/<token>/path.jpg?rlkey=<token>&dl=1 Usually would offer the newest version of that file immediately. Lately, some links offer the latest content, and some offer arbitrary older content. It's not cache, since I am trying to access these files in a multitude of ways. curl, python, servers pulling files. When I try to make a new shared link, now it has a new structure: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/<token>/path.jpg?rlkey=<token>&st=<whatever this is>&dl=1 However after generating a new link, the old link still offers the old arbitrary content. The new link works for a bit, but then offers old content again. I've tried reading all of the forums, but I can't find anyone with the same issue I have. What is the new st value? and why do some of my old links still update when they get a new version and others don't? Please advise asap! Thank you!806Views0likes1Comment
