Has Dropbox changed how html files are shared?

Last week I could use the public link to an html file in my browser and it would display. As of today, every browser I have on both Mac OS and Windows now gives a pop window asking what to do with the file. This only happens with html files on Dropbox.

  • Yes. As per emails HTML stopped being rendered/displayed on the 1st of October. After that they would download only for free users. Paying users have until Sept. 2017

Why did Dropbox change things so that HTML is no longer rendered/displayed when someone clicks on the public link?  This seems like a major disservice.  If Dropbox is going to keep this new policy, can anyone suggest other cloud services or web hosting services that do provide the functionality that Dropbox used to provide?

It was being abused too much.
