Is there anyway to recover an account that has been deleted?
I cant make any guarantees 🙂 But Business accounts generally have unlimited file recovery, so...
If you have deleted or cancelled your dropbox account then a mirror image of all your files should still be sitting on your c drive under documents. I recently closed my account and then discovered I had missed a folder in my backup but went to the c drive documents folder under users etc and all the files were still there. Good luck
DANGER! DO NOT JOIN ANOTHER COMPANY'S TEAM!
Recently all warnings have disappeared from the onboarding process - today my wife's account was deleted when she was asked to join the team dropbox from another company - she has lost all her drop box files and her own account was deleted with no warnings at all! Please reinstate the warnings that all your own business files will be deleted if you join another company's team!
Ian, in that scenario, the business team admin can contact support and ask to have the account restored. It's not the same situation as a regular account being canceled or deleted.
It may be possible for the other Company's admin to re-instate our account - but then I suspect that this other company, who is both a client and a competitor (depending on the project) will have access to all our IP, some of our financial records, some of our private photos and most of our client's files, which obviously is not acceptable and in breach of every confidentiality agreement we have ever signed. I think all we can do is back up the local copy of our files (if they have not self deleted in a sync) and start a new account (which we will be reticent to use now for any sensitive information). We will then need to get our lawyers to make it clear to the other company that they are not to re-instate this account under any circumstances.
PLEASE ADD CLEARER WARNINGS FOR THIS ISSUE! (for when people are joining a third party's team dropbox)
hi in accidently got deleted my oled drop box photos , can you please help me to recover those photos
Hi how to recover an inactive account. My phone was lost due to which i couldn't sign in my google and reset my dropbox account this made my account inactive.
How can i recover my inactive account. I've already raised tickets.
I think Dropbox needs a visit from Federal Trade Commission over this issue. How is God's green Earth can I have a paid account that gets cancelled by ONE VERY UNCLEAR CLICK OF A BUTTON to join a team folder????? Is this a scam, Dropbox???? Do you REALLY care about your customers???? Wedding pictures, private data, years of portfolio work and writing ... all lost?????? And cancelling my Pro account???????? Come on, Dropbox. You can do far better than this.
You are repeatedly warned about joining a Dropbox Business account - infact it almost forces you to set up a new account to join said team - because, as a minimum, as it says 'your Pro account will become a credit towards the Business Account'. It does not just happen by magic.
If you've ignored that, I'm afraid, its your own fault.
However, joining said business account does not delete any data. It simply becomes part of the Team.
