Plans and Subscriptions

my question is:
Is there any plan that is even cheaper than the normal basic plan of 2000 tb? It happens that I want to have more storage space, but the cheapest plan is still quite expensive.
Is there an alternative storage plan, which is cheaper?
My issue is that I can only link 3 devices with the free plan. I'd like to pay for more linkable devices, but 1TB plan is just a waste for me. I usually backup large files in a harddrive and use about 10GB dropbox space. That's why I started to search alternatives, and the available options look much more cheaper.
I believe it'd be much better if Dropbox could have some cheaper plan (~$50/year), or could customize the features and space.
I have been using my 2gb dropbox for almost 10 years as it has a nice client, that works on Linux. As it is so small its a glorified pdf syncing app.
But I am also paying for 200gb "very well known company name"-drive for my and my family's data backups and actual work because it has reasonable pricing. But sadly, it does not support Linux out of the box.
So which will happen first, reasonable pricing here or Linux client there?
Time is ticking. 🙂
I too have never needed more than 200 GB. I've been paying for the upgrade for the last few years because I LOVE dropbox (I'm familiar with the interface, like the features, and it works with every app), it was convenient because I already had a lot of things on it, and I justified it for that long because I use it for important things that I figured were worth the money. However, with the price hike, and nothing of value having been added for me, I decided that it was really time for me to move to a competitor. I'm glad Dropbox is no longer entirely dismissing the potential for a cheaper subscription like they did before. Over time, more of us will move to competitors and get used to them and Dropbox will lose a lot of customers. I personally would still move back if there was a cheaper option (I would pay $60 per year), but at these prices, it's not worth it for me.
$10 is expensive then other serviece. dont you?
I also came for the same reason. Sadly, 10 bucks a month is too high.. every service nowadays thinks they are worth 120 euros a year.
Having the lowest plan being 5 times more expensive than Google Drive is sad. I do believe Dropbox is a great product, but I think they should really accomodate the non-power users. I'd happily throw a couple of bucks their way for their great product. But just not 10 euros per month for the rest of my life.
Just adding to the many, many people here that would like to see Dropbox offer more reasonable consumer prices.
Only $12/month is really, really expensive, and the new family plan at $17 (more than Netflix/Spotify/GSuite/365/etc) is just insane.
Dropbox is the best file sharing/folder option, but it's priced like a BMW and the features compared to other things are really not competitive. Ten years ago I used Dropbox the exact same way I do today, and that's great, but that also means nothing useful to me has been added while the price continues to increase.
Dropbox got great by focusing on consumers. A little bit of a return to that would be so nice to see.
I adhere to the post edit dude
being deep in the seventh decade of my life and having stopped working actively, DB is now for personal use only, until today the company paid.
For old people like me, $ 120 a year is too much. for a fee $ 30 a year I don't even think twice. DB far superior to google drive and MS oneDrive.no doubt ! DB password program is mediocre and roboform for instance better .
think about it
Hello, I would like to know why the dropbox has only 2 GB of storage? And couldn't you put ads on download pages or some ad notification that appears in the corner to give you more storage for free?
Or also lower the prices of the plans because converting dollar to real (BRL) is expensive, so only 10 dollars already 50 reais. So it's good to think about it.
at £7.99 x12 = £95.88 you can buy a pretty good 2 TB hard drive for that.. Just an opinion like.. as i guess 2 tb is for the home user and 2 TB is a lot £5 would be a better price
