Hello from India!

Does anyone have a solution on how to renew Dropbox in India. As per the new RBI rule, any subscription based plan over Rs. 5000, needs to be registered with the bank first. I don't see Dropbox on any banks platform of approved providers and therefore unable to renew my company's account.

I've tried with multiple cards and received this error message:

Payment Failed!
For Dropbox
On Bank Credit Card.
Reason: Non-compliant Recurring or Standing Instruction registered with Merchant. Use alternate source to pay the bill.
For details, contact your merchant.

Please help!

Hi thank you for responding! I was told I had to select the UPI option - which was then only available in the monthly renewal but I would prefer to do the yearly renewal... for which the credit card option doesn't work...

How do I renew my membership from India

Hi again, @smi8!

 

I was able to look into this and at the moment, itā€™s only possible to opt in for a monthly billing cycle via UPI. 

 

If youā€™d like to switch to an annual plan instead, then youā€™d need to downgrade and then, re-upgrade your Dropbox account with a different payment method.

Can you let me know what billing cycle are you on at the moment (yearly/monthly)? Also, whatā€™s your current plan type?

Hi,

 

I was moved to a 2 GB basic plan after my current yearly plan was expired. I tried paying for the yearly plan using my CC however payment doesn't go through as explained by everyone.

 

I can see the UPI option in the monthly plan but why is it not there in yearly plan?

 

What can we do to directly pay for the yearly plan as it saves us some amount?

Iā€™m afraid that UPI canā€™t be used as a payment method for yearly plans at the moment, as they only support monthly subscriptions.

 

In order to select a yearly subscription, youā€™d need to use a different payment method.

Hi All,

 

Having the same issue when trying to change my plan from Plus to Family. I have tried all variations of two different cards, paypal with chrome/safari regular/incognito but to no avail. Every time I try, getting the error "please update your payment method". Please help resolve.

Add firefox browser to my list of things tried above. @Nancy Requesting any dropboxer to help.

 

Looks like other cloud solutions are not having problems with Indian payments so might have to migrate.

Since I understand that youā€™d like to change your type of subscription from Plus to Family, itā€™ll be necessary to downgrade your Dropbox account first to Basic, and then, re-upgrade it by inserting your payment method to the system.
