Community Member of the Month - May 2024

Community Member of the Month - May 2024

Graham
Community Manager
It’s that time of the month again, where we get to big up our Community members and thank them for all their awesome contributions to the Community. It really is one of our favorite things to do, and that is totally down to all you legends who continually make our Community better. So, as always, a big thank you from all of us to all of you.

We had a LOT of contenders in May, and as much as I’d love to make all of you Community Members of the Month, thee can be only one. so, without further ado, the winner of the Community Member of the Month award for May is….. @XionicFire

When a persistent indexing issue from a couple of years ago returned, @XionicFire  tried to solve it with some troubleshooting and workarounds. However, when all of these avenues failed, they turned to the Community and found the answer to their problems in a thread dating back to 2020.

With everything back up and running as it should, @XionicFire  could have been forgiven for going about their day, but that wasn’t the case. Instead they returned to their original thread and gave a full report on what had happened and how they fixed it, in the hope that it might help some other Community members who might find themselves in a similar predicament.

A big thank you to @XionicFire  for taking the time to share this fix and help to ensure the Community can be just as useful for others as it was for them, and being a deserved winner of our Community Member of the Month award for may! We’ve also got a small token of our appreciation for you so please respond here and we’ll get in on it’s way to you.

The only way to become a Community Member of the Month is by being active and helping others, so if you’ve got a natural penchant for helping others and are active on the Community, you could be next!

Hello Everyone

Thank you for the honor, but I cannot claim full credit for it, its the work of all of us in our team of hard working techs here at the office that field service calls daily, we collaborate with each other trying to find out why things don't sometimes work as they should, and in the process we document what we find so other techs in the future can quickly fix issues if they show up again, these posts on the Dropbox community forums are a part of that effort.

I have told them of the award and everyone here is very happy to have received this unexpected recognition, we are glad our work has helped others find a solution to sometimes frustrating problems.

We know our posts are sometimes TLDR but we try to be very clear and specific about what data we have found on every issue and how we got to the solution, sometimes by reading the thread on how to solve one problem you can figure out the solution to another solely based on the reasoning used for the original solution, as it was the case on the award post.

On behalf of everyone here at our IT desk team we thank you for the honor, and hope that our work and experience can continue to benefit everyone in the community for years to come.

 Hi @XionicFire,

Thanks again, to you and the team you work in, and thanks for giving us a little insight into what you do. I'd love to hear a little more about it. Is it OK if I reach out to you via the email address associated with this account?

Best,

Graham
