Auto-updates: In progress

I've just brought a VM (running Windows Server 2008 R2, SP1) out of mothballs, last used this past November. At the time it was running v14 of Dropbox.exe, but now this brings up an "update to the newest version" pop-up, and automatically upgrades it to the current version (v32.4.23.0). At which point it crashes, and from then on consistently crashes on startup:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: Dropbox.exe
Application Version: 32.4.23.0
Application Timestamp: 598c91eb
Fault Module Name: StackHash_6a33
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.23864
Exception code: c0000374
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.274.10
Clearly this is down to some sort of dependency change since last November; how can I narrow down which one? Note that it persists even if I completely uninstall and reinstall the new version from scratch.

Hi, I am experiencing issues with MS Office applications (2010 and 2013 so far) after updating the Dropbox desktop client to version 32.4.23. The computers are running Windows 7 SP1. The office applications experience flickering and context menus disappear automatically after a few seconds. Please investigate, thanks.

Yep same problem here with several clients computers all running 32.4.23 and Windows 7 can no longer keep context menus open (filters, right click etc.) doesn't effect any other context such as Adobe or Windows desktop itself only Word, Excel and Outlook.

It is not an improvement to me this new Dropbox Paper icon, and all that stuff in the notifications about that. Well I just DON'T NEED Dropbox Paper, I am paying Dropbox for syncing files and that's it. Please stop bother us with such "new features and improvements" that are so invasive, or at least tell us about that before releasing, please.

Dropbox app version: 32.4.23
Mac OSX version: 10.12.6
Expected behavior: When I click on the Menubar icon for Dropbox, the popup displays as expected with the recent files tab highlighted and recently synced files ordered by recency. I expect that if I click on one of the file icons, the finder window containing the file would open for ready access. This has been the normal behavior for some time.
Current behavior: When I click on the icon of a recently synced file, nothing happens.
Attempts to fix:
* Remove Dropbox app and reinstall ... including all prefs (3x).
* Uncheck and check "Finder integration" option in prefs.
* Uncheck "Finder integration" ... quit Dropbox ... start Dropbox ... check "Finder integration" ... quit Dropbox ... restart Dropbox.
None of these attempts have changed the behavior.

ImportError: cannot import name AppDataPathsThe problem is affecting multiple computers. Suddenly the client stopped working, when trying to re-install I get the above error message. Windows 7 machines. Redirected folders pointing to Dropbox. Tested reverting back to local folders still same issue. Works fine when adding a fresh user.

After installation of version 32.4.23 on a new/blank Windows 7 laptop, the login dialog on Dropbox is blank.
I tried restart, uninstall+install, ... but nothing helps.

Office 2013 drop-down menus will not stay open after the updating to the DropBox build 33.4.23 on MS windows 7 machine. If disable the resident dropbox.exe program the operation of the MS Office drop-down menus returns to normal. How can I return to the previous build?
