Changing the video Thumbnail Photo/ poster frame

Is it possible to change a video poster/ thumbnail of the image in the share links?

This is bad. I want to share videos with clients, but when they see the thumbnail set, they can't recognize the video. I've tried setting the poster frame, but DB ignores. What to do?

I agree. As a video producer it's very frustating for Dropbox to arbitarily set the thumbnail image. I often get requests from clients to change it and I always blame Dropbox. Not good for Dropbox's reputation.

+1 on this, cients request changing thumbnail but there's no good way to do this - it would honestly be better if it didn't even set a thumbnail at all. Any updates on this one as we approach 2018?

This is outrageous that you can't pick a thumbnail. I paid extra money for the "Showcase" feature, thinking it's common sense you could pick your own thumbnail, but I still can't. I can't even hide the image. This is very very high on my priority list.

Please add thumbnail options!!! For those of us using Showcase in a professional environment, it is crucial.

Please provide this custom thumbnail option. As a freelance video editor I prefer using Dropbox to share video edits with my clients but they constantly complain about the poor choice of the video thumbnails which I have no control over. I've had to explain to them numerous times this is an issue with dropbox not providing a custom thumbnail option and not my own poor taste in selecting an image (it's very embarassing as a professional to receive a note that the thumbnail I selected was the 'crappiest image I could possibly find'). One client is now demanding I use another service to share video edits.

Update: I haven't heard from dropbox about this issue since my previous post 2 weeks ago and I'm now using vimeo to share video edits with clients since my clients were unhappy with the random video thumbnail that dropbox chooses. If there was a rating system I would rate dropbox's customer support as "very poor" and I'm going to research other companies to start using for file storage.

@mak007 I don't think anything is going to happen here anytime soon, so perhaps YouTube or Adobe Creative Cloud? I hate the idea of paying more for storage when I have over 990GB here. And I just checked Creative Cloud and the thumbnail situation there is the same - u can't change it! In fact, the only place I've seen where you can easily change the thumbnail to any frame is YouTube. But perhaps you have to set the poster frame first before you upload to these services? That would be a pain...

While I don't like the inability to change a video thumbnail in DropBox, I have to remember that DropBox is a file transfer platform and is not necessarily designed as a video viewing platform. My suggestion for sharing videos with clients is using frame.io. Your clients can make comments at specific points in the video and they can download the original video (in it's original format) from within frame.io. A much better tool if you want a one stop shop for clients reviewing/commenting on/downloading videos.

If showcase is supposed to be a professional, client facing presentation, then we have to have the ability to make our presentation look good by choosing our own poster frames. I don't even care if it's a work around and I have to upload a separate still image to set the frame instead of scrubbing through and selecting it.

I'm trying to deliver a video right now and Showcase is choosing a cometely white frame, putting it on a white background with a white play button. I can't send that to my client.
