Cannot move a folder from the public/shared space to my personal space although I am the Admin

Cannot move a folder from the public/shared space to my personal space although I am the Admin

I have a dropbox account shared with a team and I am the admin. I also have the dorpbox app in my laptop where I manage the local and online files. In 2024 suddenly I was unable to create folder in the main/shared folder as it asked for higher permission. I could not delete or move folders from the main/shared folder to my personal folder either. I managed to create folders by doing it in dropbox online. But moving or deleting it does not allow simply giving the message "could not move folder X to folder Y".

Since the teams space and personal folders are separate, it's no longer possible to move the folders by accident, which would result in a large deletion from the other members' perspective.

To 'move' a folder, you'd need to do as you said, create a folder in your personal folders, and then move or copy the files across. I'd recommend testing this with a single file at first to ensure that it does copy over.

Hi @Joaodobramos, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

It sounds like you're on a Dropbox Business team with the new team space

In order to make the changes you're referring to, you'd need to do it via the site directly, and it isn't possible to move folders directly.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Dear Jay, thank you very much for your reply.

I used to be able to do all these actions before, both online and in my laptop. Has anything changed? So I will have to create a folder in my personal folder and then move the files from the public folder to mine, correct?

Except now this is creating duplicates and we cannot MOVE out of a team folder, so files are stuck in one folder now

Hey @PFSE, sorry to see you're having trouble with the team space.

Can you give us some more details, though?

Which folder is creating duplicates and what kind of duplicates are they?

Also, can you please clarify what you mean by "move out of a team folder"?
