Re: Video .mov Files transfer as Jpegs

Video .mov Files transfer as Jpegs

I just transferred 18 videos in the .mov format using my Mac desktop (up to date, running Catalina).  They each took 5 minutes or so to transfer, as would be expected. However, when they transferred, and I checked them, they'd all been converted to jpegs, which is a nice thought, but not what I wanted or expected.  Transferring videos was the main reason I paid for the subscription. Any suggestions?  Much appreciated.

Thanks for the info, what format are the files when you download them from your security camera to your phone?

Are you using an app to download them to the phone, or another method?

It's an .mp4 file, same as all the other videos I've always uploaded this same way. I download the video to my phone from my cloud camera service, and then while viewing the video on my phone, I click Share and choose Add to Dropbox.

Do you notice any difference if you upload the file though the (+) button instead @jeyyo?

Yes, it seems to upload fine that way.

Hey from me too @jeyyo!

Does this happen with all .mp4 files now, or specifically with the ones coming from your security cameras?

Do you happen to know the size of the files by any chance?

Those are the only video files I generally upload. They are around 3-5MB each.

Thanks for clarifying that for us @jeyyo

Could you please clear the app's cache and let us know if this persists? To do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Dropbox Android app.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top left.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Clear cache.

Once you’ve cleared the cache, log out of the Dropbox app, restart your device, then log back in.
