Hi,
I've been having problems with this for months and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times along with anything else I can find - checking the registry entries to make sure DropBox is in the first 15 etc and as far as I can tell everything is as it should be.
Today I had another go so unistalled, restarted my PC and then reinstalled - once I completed setup I opened the Dropbox folder and the DropBox options were there in the right hand menu so I thought I'd finally sorted it... but when I closed that menu and right clicked again they were no longer there...?
I wanted to get it sorted as if I can I'll upgrade my DropBox to a larger capacity / paid account but don't want to do it if I can't. When I was looking for alternatives I installed pcloud and that works fine in the right hand menu...??
First time I right-clicked after installing... after that the DropBox options disappear, if I click show more options it's not there either although the pcloud software I installed today comes up...
And the registry...
Hi @Andrew1705, thanks for posting here, let's have a look!
When did you start noticing this behavior?
In regards to your context menu not working, can you clarify the app's current syncing status, please?
Also, have you tried quitting the app, and then signing in again?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Morning @Megan thanks for picking this up.
Hard to say when I first noticed it to be honest, I would say it was probably 6 or 8 months ago possibly after one of the upgrades but I can't be certain. I've tried the things I've found on this forum since then and none of them have resolved it. When I tried again over the weekend I noticed that it seems to be the first time I right click in a DropBox folder after I've just installed it it works fine but after that the DropBox menu item doesn't show up.
I've just retried quitting the app, signing out and back in (and also shutdown all Dropbox instances in the task manager) and that doesn't seem to make any difference so I'm open to more suggestions.
Thanks, Andrew
Hey @Andrew1705, do you happen to be running any 3rd party apps like backup or syncing services or even security programs like antivirus which might be monitoring your files?
Also, would you mind sharing the app's current syncing status and version? You can find this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon on your task bar, next to your WiFi.

Hi @Megan I am running AV (Avast Premium) and I did try disabling that and it didn't seem to make any difference although I haven't kept it disabled while I do the whole uninstall / re-install. I also use iDrive for backups but wouldn't expect that to interfere with anything?
DropBox is working fine and syncs files between my devices and it's running version 206.4.6506, hoving over the icon also confirm that it's up to date.
Hi from me as well, Andrew! Since you seem to have checked everything else, can you also take a look at this article and make sure UAC is set to default levels?

Hi @Nancy , unfortunately that didn't make any difference either and I also tried shutting down DropBox then restarting with 'Run as Adminstrator'. I am a local administrator on the PC as well.
As a last resort, would you mind trying out these steps if you haven't already @Andrew1705?

Hi @Megan I've just tried that again (although I had done that already over the weekend). As last time the first time I right click after installing DropBox the menu's were there and when I clicked away from the menu and right clicked on the folder again the DropBox items had disappeared.
Hi again, Andrew. Can you send me one more screenshot of the options you see now, when right-clicking on your Dropbox files?
Other than that, I’d like you to temporarily disable iDrive and OneDrive (based on what I see on your second screenshot). Does that make any difference?
