Re: Nagging Icon about files that have issues syncing.

Nagging Icon about files that have issues syncing.

Hi,

Not long ago I started getting a red alert icon overlaying the Dropbox icon.  When I click it

it says "Couldn't sync files".  If I click "View now", it drops me at my laptop's desktop.  This doesn't

help me.  I need a direct link to the exact file.  Also, the popup referencing the files purportedly

having bad characters don't show any.  Files such as "gulp" and "uuid" probably don't have bad characters in

the file names.

Also, if I'm connected to a folder that does have some problems like a bad character in a file,

what am I supposed to do about it?  Did this start as the result of a change at Dropbox?

Can I turn off the notification?

Thanks!

Hey there @webspin, thanks for posting here today!

As a first step, can you clarify your OS, please?

If you open your Dropbox folder locally, do you see any files/folder with the blue syncing icons maybe? That should give you an indication as to which files are in the process of syncing.

As for your question: if you have some invalid characters that prevent your content from syncing locally, the best idea is to locate them online, and rename them.

If you could also send me a screenshot of the red alert icon, I'd more than appreciate that.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
