Hi Tobyh, it does sound like the Dropbox desktop application is still attempting to sync the files across. We'd recommend waiting for the process to continue.

Hi Jay/Hannah,
I left Dropbox to sync overnight and it was able to 'relink' the files that had previous been local on my Macbook. I don't think the '250,000' was an accurate representation of the sync status as it had hardly moved throughout the day whilst using the computer.
For anyone curious, I have been able to successfully move, sync and use Dropbox on a Lacie 6big Thunderbolt 3 RAID with a RAID 5.
