Edit Underlying Document in Dropbox Sign Template

I am looking for a way to create a document template in dropbox sign and easily swap out the underlying document. The document that is the exact same format but we prepopulate user specific information. We use this document semi-regularly so I don't want to have to manually place the signature box every time we need to have it signed.

The only documentation I found was by using the API which is more than I want to take on.

Thank you in advance!

Hi cm12345, thanks for posting here today!

You should be able to swap the underlying document, if you follow these steps:

Click on edit to edit a template and click on Next to get to the Place field page:
-On the left side menu bar click on Documents.
-You’ll see a thumbnail view of your document with “…” (ellipsis).
-To replace a page, click “…” (ellipsis) next to the page you’d like to replace.
-Click Replace, and follow the prompts to upload a replacement page.

If you have any issues with this, or questions let me know!

      Hi,

I need to do this too, I've tried your method, clicked replace, a document is uploaded, but the document does not seem to replace the existing one at all?

In the left hand column and on the main right edit screenI still see the thumbnail of the existing document.

Below it in red, there is the title of the replacement with and X on the left in a circle and a delete trash can on the right.

Clicking on the newly added document name does nothing.

Also once this new document is added, the blue Next button on the right becomes disabled.

The exact same thing happens if I press the +Add Document button at the bottom of the column.

      Thanks

      Ian

Hey IanSE, are you getting the same behavior on other browsers or private browsing/incognito windows as well?
